Being punished for partying without a mask and losing a crucial game<\/a> days later marked \u201cthe hardest week of my life,\u201d Washington quarterback Dwayne Haskins told reporters Sunday, adding that he needs to \u201cget my life together.\u201d<\/p>\n

In what may have been his last game with the franchise, the 2019 first-round pick threw two interceptions and was benched for journeyman Taylor Heinicke in the fourth quarter of a 20-13 loss to the Panthers.<\/p>\n

The defeat cost Washington (6-9) a chance to clinch the division, setting up a Week 17 in which either Washington, the Giants or Dallas can win the woebegone division and a trip<\/a> to the playoffs despite finishing with a below .500 record.<\/p>\n

Four days earlier, Haskins was fined $40,000 and stripped of his captaincy after images and videos showed him partying without a mask in what app<\/a>eared to be a strip club.<\/p>\n

\u201cDefinitely the hardest week of my life,\u201d a dispirited Haskins told reporters. \u201cI just want to bounce back and move forward, pray and get my life together.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou sign up for this job and sometimes being human isn\u2019t enough.\u201d<\/p>\n

Washington was forced to start Haskins amid the controversy because Alex Smith was recovering from a calf injury. <\/p>\n

Head coach Ron Rivera said he doesn\u2019t know who will start next week\u2019s do-or-die game against the Eagles. <\/p>\n

Regardless, the team, according to CBS<\/a>, is expected to cut ties this offseason with the former Ohio State star, who in addition to the strip club incident has been chastised for poor practice habits and immaturity.<\/p>\n

After a mediocre rookie campaign, Haskins began the season as the starter but was relegated to the bench after just four games, and then requested a trade to no avail. In October he was fined just under $5,000 for inviting a family friend to the team hotel.<\/p>\n

Last season, Haskins infamously missed the final play of his first win because the 23-year-old was taking a selfie with a fan.<\/p>\n

Haskins, who has five passing touchdowns and seven interceptions in seven games this season, is in the second year of a four-year, $14 million rookie contract that is guaranteed.<\/p><\/div>\n
