According to the filmmaker, who created both\u00a0<strong><em>The Haunting of Hill House<\/em><\/strong> and the recent<strong>\u00a0<em>The Haunting of Bly Manor<\/em> <\/strong>for Netflix, there are currently no plans for a third entry. Meanwhile, in other Mike Flanagan news, the director\u2019s film adaptation of <strong>Stephen King<\/strong>\u2018s\u00a0<strong><em>Revival<\/em> <\/strong>seems to be dead.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Haunting_Season_3\"><\/span><strong>The Haunting Season 3<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>With <em>The Haunting of Hill House<\/em>, filmmaker Mike Flanagan took the framework of Shirley Jackson\u2019s immortal ghost story and created a scary, emotional, highly-acclaimed season of television. Flanagan and his team kept things going with\u00a0<em>The Haunting of Bly Manor<\/em>, which adapted the work of Henry James. The implication seemed to be that now that\u00a0<em>The Haunting<\/em> was firmly established as an anthology <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a>, Flanagan might return with a third season focusing on a new haunted location.<br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->But that doesn\u2019t seem to be the case. Flanagan took to <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a> to reveal that right now, no one has any plans for more\u00a0<em>Haunting<\/em>. \u201cAt the moment there are no plans for more chapters,\u201d he wrote. \u201cNever say never, of course, but right now we are focused on a full slate of other Intrepid projects for 2021 and beyond. If things change we will absolutely let everyone know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I loved\u00a0<em>Hill House<\/em>, but I thought\u00a0<em>Bly Manor<\/em> was a bit of a dis<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ointment. That said, I was still hoping Flanagan would make at least one more spooky season focused on some new literary-inspired ghost story, but I guess it just isn\u2019t in the cards (even though he does add \u201cNever say never\u201d in his statement). In the meantime, Flanagan and his Intrepid Pictures have a different Netflix horror show on the horizon \u2013\u00a0<em>Midnight Mass<\/em>, which just wrapped production.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Revival\"><\/span><strong>Revival<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>I\u2019m a big Stephen King nerd, but I\u2019ll be the first to tell you that the latter half of King\u2019s career has been a bit wishy-washy. But every now and then he\u2019ll churn out something great to remind us why he\u2019s so damn popular. One of those late-period reminders is\u00a0<em>Revival<\/em>, King\u2019s highly disturbing 2014 novel that suggests the afterlife is a nightmarish hellscape from which there is no escape. It\u2019s a dark, scary book, and over the summer it was revealed that Mike Flanagan was working on turning it into a film.<\/p>\n<p>Flanagan has a history with King adaptations, having helmed\u00a0<em>Gerald\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Game<\/a><\/em> and\u00a0<em>Doctor Sleep<\/em>, so it made sense to have him take on\u00a0<em>Revival<\/em>. When the news of Flanagan\u2019s involvement broke, it stated that he was tackling the script and had an option to direct as well. But now it looks like that\u2019s no longer happening. While appearing on <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thestandpodcast.com\/?p=2434\"><em>The Company Of The Mad<\/em><\/a>\u00a0podcast (via <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/comicbook.com\/movies\/news\/stephen-kings-revival-adaptation-not-moving-forward\/\">Comicbook<\/a>), Flanagan confirmed he was no longer involved by equating his experience on the project with that of Josh Boone. Boone was attached to direct a\u00a0<em>Revival<\/em> movie before Flanagan and had spent some time developing it before Flanagan took over.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe started emailing because I went on to eBay to buy a limited edition of<em> Revival<\/em> \u2013 a beautiful set of <em>Revival<\/em>, and Josh was selling it,\u201d Flanagan said. \u201cI bought it, and he emailed me on eBay first when the transaction first started, like, \u2018Uhhh, hi.\u2019 \u2018Oh my god!\u2019 And so we got to go back and forth about <em>Revival<\/em>, being a project that Josh was doing first and then I also ended up not doing <em>Revival<\/em>. So we have that in common; we\u2019ve both been through the wringer on that particular story.\u201d<br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post_2 -->This is a huge bummer, because if done right,\u00a0<em>Revival\u00a0<\/em>could end up being a genuinely scary movie, and I had faith in Flanagan\u2019s ability to tackle the material. \u201cWhat I love about it is it\u2019s a return to cosmic horror, which I think is so fun,\u201d Flanagan previously said. \u201cIt is relentlessly dark and cynical and I\u2019m enjoying the hell out of that. This is just bleak and mean and I like it for that\u2026This one was a really fun piece of material for me because I get to be like, \u2018Oh, you want a dark ending? Okay. Cool.
