It\u2019s a \u201ctug of war,\u201d in which Biden must try to balance his own instincts against those of energized progressives convinced that \u201cideas that were confined to the margins of the party\u201d have now become \u201cpart of the Democratic mainstream.\u201d With control of the Senate still up for grabs and a titanic struggle for economic recovery just ahead, \u201cDemocrats are united in relief that Trump\u2019s White House tenure is coming to an end.\u201d \u201cBut once Biden gets into the White House, fresh battles beckon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Media<\/a> desk: Kicking America When She\u2019s Down<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As \u201cCOVID-19 ravaged communities and government-imposed lockdowns decimated the American economy, The New York Times took aim at American morale and fired,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/why-does-the-new-york-times-hate-america\">seethes The Post Millennial\u2019s Libby Emmons<\/a>. One columnist \u201cwrote with glee that\u201d the pandemic \u201cis killing off the myth that we are the greatest country on earth\u201d and declared white writers who \u201cretreat back to the politics of the apolitical\u201d after \u201cthe hated orange menace is out of office\u201d racist. Isabel Wilkerson wrote about \u201cAmerica\u2019s enduring caste system,\u201d while a food-section story stated Thanksgiving is \u201ca myth created to make white people feel comfortable.\u201d An op-ed by Sen. Tom Cotton \u201cupended\u201d the opinion section and now carries a disclaimer; a piece by the deputy leader of the terrorist Taliban doesn\u2019t. For shame.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Urban beat: SF\u2019s Cruel Trick on Small Biz<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When San Francisco allowed restaurants and gyms to build and operate outdoor structures, called \u201cparklets,\u201d their owners finally had some revenue streaming in during the lockdowns, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.city-journal.org\/san-francisco-outdoor-dining-becomes-magnet-for-homeless\">reports Erica Sandberg at City Journal<\/a>. But then the city shut even outdoor dining and fitness centers on Dec. 6, and \u201calmost overnight, activity in the now-abandoned spaces changed dramatically.\u201d One owner fumes that his parklets \u201care now being used as bathrooms,\u201d that \u201csome guy is camping in one\u201d and that he is finding \u201cempty cans of beer\u201d and needles in the area. Meanwhile, homeless shelters \u201cthe city opened with great fanfare\u201d remain shut. Owners \u201ccould be forgiven for feeling hoodwinked: shelling out their own money to keep their businesses going, they have unwittingly created homeless accommodation <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>arently more desirable than anything the city offers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Iconoclast: Larry Summers\u2019 Hypocrisy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Want to know why bipartisan elites lost to President Trump four years ago? Witness \u201cneoliberal\u201d economic guru Larry Summers\u2019 \u201cclassic\u201d op-ed arguing that lockdown-hit American workers don\u2019t need more cash assistance, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/taibbi.substack.com\/p\/neoliberal-champion-larry-summers\">snarks Matt Taibbi at his blog<\/a>. \u201cThe whole piece reads like an extended New Yorker cartoon, in which an evictee with empty pockets is about to dive after a rotten apple core in a dumpster, only to be blocked by a cauldron-bellied Harvard economist in a $3,000 Zegna suit. Caption: \u2018Actually, total household income relative to the economy\u2019s potential sits at abnormally high levels.\u2019\u200a\u201d Yes, reasonable people can disagree about the COVID-19 rescue packages. The problem is that the likes of Summers \u201coften believe in jaw-droppingly enormous levels of public aid\u201d \u2014 when it comes to rescuing distressed corporations and financiers.
