Ready Player One<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->Not only is\u00a0<strong><em>Ready Player One<\/em> <\/strong>Spielberg\u2019s worst 21st-century offering, but it\u2019s also quite possibly the worst movie he\u2019s ever made. A loud, aggressively stupid film with next to no humanity,\u00a0<em>Ready Player One<\/em> allows Spielberg to play around with cool special effects but lacks the heart and soul he usually adds to such technical experiments.\u00a0<em>Ready Player One<\/em> gave Spielberg another blockbuster to add to his name, but it also took him away from the better, more adult-driven work he had been churning out in the 2000s and 2010s.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/ZZ40F34BD5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-344309\" src=\"https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/ZZ40F34BD5-700x290.jpg\" alt=\"Indiana Jones and The Crystal Skull\" width=\"700\" height=\"290\" srcset=\"https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/ZZ40F34BD5-700x290.jpg 700w, https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/ZZ40F34BD5-360x149.jpg 360w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"13_Indiana_Jones_and_the_Kingdom_of_the_Crystal_Skull\"><\/span><strong>13. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The bastard stepchild of the\u00a0<em>Indiana Jones<\/em> franchise,\u00a0<strong><em>Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull<\/em> <\/strong>is not as bad as its reputation suggests. But it\u2019s not exactly good, either. <strong>Harrison Ford<\/strong> never misses a step as the older Indy, and some of the set-pieces Speilberg stages here are thrilling and exciting. But the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a> \u2013 cobbled together from various, better drafts \u2013 is a mess, and a host of digitally-enhanced effects takes away from the old school pulpy charm of the practical-effects-heavy previous films.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/bfg-cast.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-649990\" src=\"https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/bfg-cast-700x321.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"321\" srcset=\"https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/bfg-cast-700x321.jpg 700w, https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/bfg-cast-360x165.jpg 360w, https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/bfg-cast-768x352.jpg 768w, https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/bfg-cast.jpg 948w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"12_The_BFG\"><\/span><strong>12. The BFG<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>A sweet, charming, funny little fairy tale that sadly lacks substance. Just as digital as\u00a0<em>Ready Player One<\/em>, but with a lot more heart,\u00a0<strong><em>The BFG<\/em> <\/strong>is Spielberg in\u00a0<em>Hook<\/em>-mode, for better or worse. While this is by no means a\u00a0<em>bad<\/em> movie, it is sadly forgettable \u2013 something that doesn\u2019t happen that often with a Spielberg film. The Terminal<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Often chalked-up as little more than Spielberg-lite,\u00a0<strong><em>The Terminal<\/em><\/strong> deserves reappraisal. <strong>Tom Hanks<\/strong> is wonderful as an immigrant stuck in an airport, and while the film operates in a world that feels too optimistic when compared to our own,\u00a0<em>The Terminal<\/em> still allows Spielberg to get creative. The airport Hanks occupies here was built from scratch but always feels like a real, bustling, humanity-filled place.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/steven-spielberg-ranked-tintin.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-363354\" src=\"https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/steven-spielberg-ranked-tintin-700x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/steven-spielberg-ranked-tintin.jpg 700w, https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/steven-spielberg-ranked-tintin-360x154.jpg 360w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"10_The_Adventures_of_Tintin\"><\/span><strong>10. The Adventures of Tintin<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><em>Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull<\/em> may have been a disappointment, but Spielberg\u00a0<em>did<\/em> manage to create another rollicking, pulpy adventure movie in the 21st century with\u00a0<strong><em>The Adventures of Tintin<\/em><\/strong>. A whiz-bang adventure done in motion-capture, the animated nature of\u00a0<em>Tintin<\/em> allowed Spielberg the freedom to go absolutely wild, gleefully creating shots and sequences that could never be realized in live-action.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/war-horse-end.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-631744\" src=\"https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/war-horse-end-700x321.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"321\" srcset=\"https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/war-horse-end-700x321.jpg 700w, https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/war-horse-end-360x165.jpg 360w, https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/war-horse-end-768x352.jpg 768w, https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/war-horse-end.jpg 948w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"9_War_Horse\"><\/span><strong>9. War Horse<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post_3 -->A sweeping, old school drama that wears its heart on its sleeve,\u00a0<strong><em>War Horse<\/em><\/strong> is an episodic but great Spielberg entry that allows the filmmaker to embrace classic melodrama. Various World War I stories are told through the eyes of a horse, and while such an idea could\u2019ve become something cloying,\u00a0<em>War Horse<\/em> succeeds and excels. Not in spite of its sentimentality, but because of it. Even against the hellish backdrop of war, Spielberg is looking for rays of hope.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/the-post-streep.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-641279\" src=\"https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/the-post-streep-700x321.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"321\" srcset=\"https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/the-post-streep-700x321.jpg 700w, https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/the-post-streep-360x165.jpg 360w, https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/the-post-streep-768x352.jpg 768w, https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/the-post-streep.jpg 948w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"8_The_Post\"><\/span><strong>8. The Post<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Spielberg primarily makes <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">movies<\/a> about men, but\u00a0<strong><em>The Post<\/em><\/strong> proves he can also tackle a female-driven story. While\u00a0<em>The Post<\/em> is loaded with actors, it\u2019s <strong>Meryl Streep<\/strong> as Washington\u00a0<em>Post<\/em> owner\u00a0Katharine Graham who drives the whole story. It\u2019s through Graham\u2019s eye that we follow the story of the publishing of the Pentagon Papers, as she goes from the only female face in a room and to afraid to speak-up to making a huge, potentially disastrous, but ultimately correct decision that has the power to change history. Spielberg has mastered the art of milking fun out of tense situations, but none of the action in\u00a0<em>War of the Worlds<\/em> is fun \u2013 it\u2019s terrifying and relentless. Bad dad <strong>Tom Cruise<\/strong> has to get his estranged kids to safety as all hell breaks loose, cities crumble, and bodies go up in smoke. The gig eventually leads Hanks\u2019 character to Berlin just as the Berlin Wall is starting to go up, all with the hopes of freeing Americans captured by the Soviets. Spielberg keeps the movie flowing, with Hanks going from one memorable location and character to the next, always striving to do whatever he must to save the day, and some lives. Spielberg, for his part, insisted Kubrick stick with it. But Kubrick died before the film could ever be made, which lead Spielberg to finally taking over.\u00a0<em>A.I.<\/em> became Spielberg\u2019s intro into the 21st century \u2013 a film that would give us a hint of what he had in store for us in the 2000s and beyond. Relentless in its pacing and featuring one of the very best performances ever in a Spielberg movie (from <strong>Samantha Morton<\/strong>, playing a \u201cpre-cog\u201d who can see into the future),\u00a0<em>Minority Report<\/em> is another example of Spielberg having his cake and eating it too \u2013 creating a challenging story that still has the power to entertain the masses.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/catch-me-if-you-can-leo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-481048\" src=\"https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/catch-me-if-you-can-leo-700x300.jpg\" alt=\"catch me if you can leo\" width=\"700\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/catch-me-if-you-can-leo.jpg 700w, https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/catch-me-if-you-can-leo-360x154.jpg 360w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_Catch_Me_If_You_Can\"><\/span><strong>3. Case in point:\u00a0<strong><em>Catch Me If You Can<\/em><\/strong> has big stars like <strong>Leonardo DiCaprio<\/strong> and Tom Hanks, and it tells a sprawling story, but it\u2019s not exactly a\u00a0<em>big<\/em> movie. It\u2019s more of a character study, and it allows Spielberg to generate great little set pieces where the camera is always moving, always tracking young con-man\u00a0 Frank Abagnale. If any other filmmaker had made something like this we\u2019d never stop singing its praises, but because it\u2019s Spielberg, and because we\u2019ve come to expect great stuff from him, it\u2019s easy to (almost) take\u00a0<em>Catch me If You Can<\/em> for granted. Using the formula of a spy thriller,\u00a0<em>Munich<\/em> (Spielberg\u2019s other team-up with screenwriter Tony Kushner) has the filmmaker telling a highly-charged story of\u00a0 Mossad agents tracking down\u00a0Palestinian terrorists who were involved with the massacre of the\u00a0members of the Israeli Olympic team during the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. Spielberg and Kushner dare to humanize everyone here \u2013 a decision that lead Spielberg to be criticized for being too sympathetic to terrorists, a charge that\u2019s laughable if you actually watch the movie. \u201cThe movie offers a forum \u2013 there are some people in the Jewish community who don\u2019t think it was appropriate to have given a position on, or even a scene to explore, the Palestinian character,\u201d Spielberg said. \u201cBut Tony and I thought it was very, very important. There\u2019s been a quagmire of blood for blood for many decades in the region. And where does it end? How does it end?
