Boeing\u2019s troubled 737 MAX plane has returned to US skies after nearly two years \u2014 with an American Airlines flight touching down safely at LaGuardia Airport on Tuesday afternoon. <\/p>\n

While some travel<\/a>ers might have been scared away by the flight\u2019s deadly track record \u2014 two crashes in 2018 totaling 346 victims \u2014 at least one couple on board told The Post they actually scheduled their travel plans specifically to take part in the historic Miami to New York flight. <\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t mind getting up a little bit earlier to be part of history, literally,\u201d said 23-year-old \u201cplane aficionado\u201d and Fordham law student Daniel Weiss.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlanes crash. It\u2019s unfortunate. But after 20 months. Boeing is a great company. I\u2019d like to think that\u2019s enough time to figure things out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Weiss\u2019 girlfriend said she took a little convincing.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is a plane aficionado and convinced me to go on this flight. I knew they did extensive testing and it would be very safe,\u201d said college student Justine Laufer, 22. \u201cIt felt like any other flight.\u201d<\/p>\n

The trip was the 737 MAX\u2019s first commercial flight since President Trump ordered the plane to the ground in response to the deadly crashes in Ethiopia and Indonesia.<\/p>\n

Federal Aviation Administration officials cleared the model for flights in November, saying Boeing had identified software and training changes required for safe operation.<\/p>\n

The families of crash victims had protested the return to service because the final investigation into the Addis Ababa crash has yet to be published.<\/p>\n

But those who took Tuesday\u2019s flight app<\/a>eared unfazed.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt didn\u2019t bother us one bit. We weren\u2019t leery,\u201d Maureen Hencsei, 59, of Bridgeport, said of the plane\u2019s history. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe didn\u2019t have any expectation it would be bad.\u201d<\/p>\n

And at least one passenger flew blissfully unaware of the jet\u2019s history. Fatima Lindsey, 26, of Northern California, had her headphones on during the pilot\u2019s pre-flight speech.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh wow. I did not know that,\u201d she told The Post after learning of this flight\u2019s historic significance. \u201dBut everyone seemed like they were calm. They were just really relaxed.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI heard everyone clapping,\u201d she said. \u201cI was like, why are we clapping?\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
