A\u00a0hiker\u00a0in\u00a0Utah\u00a0survived after falling more than 100 feet\u00a0onto a cliff ledge where he lay stranded for over five hours until a fire crew\u00a0rescued\u00a0him on Sunday, authorities said.<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old male was hiking in an area west of Ensign Peak, located near downtown Salt Lake City, when he fell,\u00a0the Salt Lake City Fire Department said<\/a>. The man lost his phone during the tumble and could not call for help on his own.<\/p>\n

The man, who was not identified, suffered injuries to his pelvis and one of his legs in the fall, according to authorities. He app<\/a>eared to have been hiking alone.<\/p>\n

He yelled for help, waved his arms and flashed his flashlight until a group of homeless people who lived nearby spotted him and called 911, Fire Capt. Tony Stowe told the\u00a0Salt Lake Tribune<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Fire crews arrived and used harnesses to rappel down the face of the sheer cliff and reach the man.\u00a0Video shows<\/a>\u00a0rescue workers lowering the man on a gurney down the cliff.<\/p>\n

This morning SLC Fire\u2019s Heavy Rescue Team rescued a 29 yr. old male hiking in the area that fell more than 100 feet landing on a cliff ledge. He sustained injuries to his pelvis and leg. Stowe told the paper that the man was conscious but disoriented when they found him. He said the rescue took about two hours.<\/p>\n

The man was taken to a hospital for treatment. His current condition was not immedia<\/a>tely available.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
