Incredible video footage shows a small plane flying just feet above the sand as it makes an emergency landing on a Florida beach.<\/p>\n

The single-engine Cessna 172 Skyhawk was heading to the Bahamas from Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday afternoon when it suffered engine failure, officials told the South Florida Sun Sentinel<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The pilot \u2014 the only person onboard \u2014 tried to turn back, but had to abort that plan and instead land on Dania Beach.<\/p>\n

Beachgoers told the paper the plane went \u201cright over their heads\u201d for a quarter of a mile before landing safely with no injuries.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe beach had many beachgoers on it today as it\u2019s a holiday week, and for the pilot to steer clear of any beachgoers was a miraculous feat,\u201d Broward Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Michael Kane told the paper.<\/p>\n

\u201cGiven the circumstances, this pilot made a phenomenal landing.\u201d<\/p>\n

One beachgoer, Derek Thompson, told NBC Miami <\/a>that he had to race out of the way before he managed to record video of the amazing flight along the beach.<\/p>\n

\u201cI looked up ahead and saw this plane coming in really super low, and I thought, wow, this guy is flying super low. Is he going to try and land here?\u201d he said. \u201cHe just kept getting lower and lower and eventually as he went past me, he landed almost right in front of me.\u201d<\/p>\n
