Adam Gase can\u2019t bring himself to check the Jets\u2019 offensive rankings.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no point at looking at them,\u201d the beleaguered coach said Wednesday. \u201cI know where we\u2019re at. It\u2019s not good. We had way too many game<\/a>s where we were just so unproductive.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Jets enter what is surely Gase\u2019s final game as the coach ranked No. 32 in total offense, passing offense and scoring offense. It is the second straight season under Gase that the Jets could finish dead last in total offense. They are averaging 275.3 yards and 15.3 points per game entering Sunday\u2019s finale with the Patriots.<\/p>\n

Gase made his reputation in the NFL coaching offense. He oversaw the historic 2013 Broncos offense, which broke numerous NFL records. The Jets hired him two years ago in part because they believed he could develop quarterback Sam Darnold and jump-start the offense. Instead, the offense has sputtered.<\/p>\n

The Jets have gone 20 straight games without gaining 400 yards of offense, the longest active streak in the NFL. They have had four games this season where they did not score a touchdown and have not scored more than 28 points in a game this year.<\/p>\n

The Jets are expected to fire Gase after Sunday\u2019s game with the Patriots. After starting 0-13 this year, Gase\u2019s crew has won its past two games, but even a three-game winning streak will not be enough to save his job. Gase was asked Wednesday if he worries the struggles on offense have damaged his reputation around the NFL.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know if worry is really the right word,\u201d Gase said. \u201cIt\u2019s just \u2026 I mean it pisses me off. If there\u2019s one side of the ball I want to make sure is right, it\u2019s that one. It has not happ<\/a>ened and that\u2019s on me.\u201d<\/p>\n

This is not entirely Gase\u2019s fault. Darnold has not played well at all this season. The Jets were without their projected starting wide receivers for the first half of the season. They have gone through eight different starting offensive line combinations. The signing of running back Le\u2019Veon Bell in 2019 by former GM Mike Maccagnan was an unmitigated disaster that blew up in Gase\u2019s face and led to the team cutting Bell in October.<\/p>\n
