“# Relax, Tether won\u2019t be targeted by SEC, says Bitfinex CTO <\/strong>”

Paolo Ardoino, the outspoken chief technology<\/a> officer of Bitfinex, took to Twitter<\/a> this week to dispel concerns that Tether could be the next target of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In response to a tweet from CryptoQuant CEO Ki Young Ju, Ardoino <\/a>said <\/a>Tether adheres to strict Know Yor Customer\/Anti-Money Laundering regulations set forth by the Treasury Department\u2019s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, or FinCEN. In other words, people who say Tether is less regulated are just spreading \u201cFUD\u201d\u2014 or fear, uncertainty and doubt.<\/p>\n

Ki Young\u2019s original tweet said: \u201cIf SEC’s next target is Tether, it’s going to be very, very bad for this bull run as this market heavily relying on $USDT.\u201d <\/p>\n

Ardoino\u2019s response:<\/p>\n

Reminder: #Tether<\/a> is registered and regulated under FinCEN as all the centralised competitors. Strict KYC\/AML is app<\/a>lied to all Tether direct users, as the other main issuers are doing.
