Did you spend way too much time playing the original\u00a0<\/span>FarmVille<\/span><\/em>\u00a0way back in its heyday? Well, now your last chance to get one last minute of retro farming in. The original\u00a0<\/a><\/span>FarmVille<\/span><\/em><\/a>\u00a0shuts down after today (December 31) and won\u2019t work anymore when\u00a0the new year arrives<\/a>. The writing was always on the wall considering the impending death of Flash. But act now if you want a bit of nostalgia.<\/span><\/p>\n

Believe it or not,\u00a0<\/span>FarmVille<\/span><\/em>\u00a0is eleven years old now. Even more surprisingly, you can still play the original game<\/a>\u2014for one more day at least. Zynga, the company behind\u00a0<\/span>FarmVille<\/span><\/em>, already shut down in-app<\/a> purchases last November. And it\u2019s not like the entire game concept is dead; FarmVille<\/em> has multiple sequels already. But they aren\u2019t the same.<\/span><\/p>\n

But it does feel like an end to the early internet, and especially early Facebook<\/a> days. Eleven years ago, there wasn\u2019t much to do or see on Facebook, and\u00a0<\/span>FarmVille<\/span><\/em>\u00a0was almost THE reason to visit the site. Sending your friends a poke only provided so much amusement. With the game\u2019s limits built-in to drive daily visits and the urge to spend cash, it took off pretty quickly. And crashed not long after.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you remember your farm fondly and want to harvest one last time, go now<\/a>. It\u2019ll be too late when the new year arrives.<\/span><\/p>\n
