After Mississippi State and Tulsa football players broke out in a wild brawl at the end of Thursday\u2019s Armed Forces Bowl, ESPN\u2019s \u201cCollege Game<\/a>Day\u201d analysts didn\u2019t hold back their disgust as they discussed the Bulldogs\u2019 win.<\/p>\n

Kirk Herbstreit, who is working from home after recently testing positive for COVID-19, specifically called out Mississippi State coach Mike Leach.<\/p>\n

\u201cMike Leach should be embarrassed,\u201d Herbstreit said Friday. \u201cHis postgame interview and what he said, \u2018Hey, it\u2019s football. Hey, it\u2019s physical. It\u2019s going to happ<\/a>en.\u2019 Are you kidding me, Mike?! You should be embarrassed about your program and what it did.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a black eye for the sport,\u201d Herbstreit added. \u201cMaybe you don\u2019t care about the sport, dude. It\u2019s as bad as it could be watching that for people that are sitting around watching college football and that breaks out. It\u2019s another black eye for college football.\u201d<\/p>\n

Host Rece Davis agreed with Herbstreit, stating that the fight was a \u201ccrossroads moment\u201d for Mississippi State and Leach, who is in his first season with the Bulldogs.<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst year under Mike Leach\u00a0\u2014 who are you going to be?\u201d Davis said. \u201cWhat\u2019s your program going to be about? Is it going to be about this chippiness and false bravado\u00a0and making videos in the locker room celebrating a fight? Or are you going to maybe pull an upset here or there? Or are you going to be about football? It\u2019s a crossroads moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the conclusion of Mississippi State\u2019s 28-26 win, players from both teams began pushing, shoving and throwing punches at one another. At one point, Bulldogs receiver Malik Heath kicked Tulsa safety Tieneal Martin in the face after throwing him to the ground.<\/p>\n

Kendarin Ray, another Tulsa safety, had to be helped off the field and was examined for a possible concussion. While Tulsa coach Philip Montgomery said he didn\u2019t want to comment much about the fight during his postgame interview, Leach was much more flippant about the situation.<\/p>\n

He later told reporters that the brawl was \u201cdumb.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a football game so we\u2019re not going to be tearing cloth over this deal,\u201d he said on the ESPN broadcast after the game. \u201cSomebody went to a football game and somebody got hit. There\u2019s a point where I\u2019m not going to lose my mind over it.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
