A C\u00e9line Dion superfan in the UK got drunk and legally changed his name to hers \u2014 then promptly forgot about it. <\/p>\n

But it\u2019s all coming back to him now.<\/p>\n

The 30-year-old C\u00e9line Dion \u2014 n\u00e9 Thomas Dodd \u2014 told The Post that he came up with the idea while boozing it up and watching a TV concert by the 52-year-old Canadian crooner on Christmas Eve \u2014 because he loves her. <\/p>\n

\u201cShe [is] my go-to person I listen to when I need cheering up,\u201d he told The Post via Twitter<\/a>. <\/p>\n

He said he spent much of the pandemic watching concerts while at home, including one by Dion over the holiday that was accompanied by a magnum of Champagne given to him by a friend. \u201cThat\u2019ll probably explain a lot!\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

While enjoying the show, he plunked down 89 pounds (about $122) and officially took her name via an online app<\/a>lication. However, the details are a bit fuzzy.<\/p>\n

\u201cI honestly, hand on heart, don\u2019t remember doing it!\u201d he said. \u201cI remember watching the concert and remember getting rather tipsy.\u201d <\/p>\n

Days later, he came home from work as a hospitality manager in Staffordshire, England, to find an envelope with documentation waiting for him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wasn\u2019t aware I had done it until I found that envelope in my post,\u201d he explained. \u201cInitially, I had to sit down as I couldn\u2019t believe it \u2014 so I then checked my bank which confirmed it all.\u201d<\/p>\n

And why stop there?<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce it sunk in, I signed it straightaway as I bloody love her!\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He shared images<\/a> of his \u201cchange of name deed\u201d on Twitter \u2014 yes, he did update his social media name to reflect the side-splitting switch \u2014 which includes his old signature, plus a new one in a box marked \u201cMR CELINE DION.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThings have been pretty crazy over here since this morning\u201d when his story took off Friday morning and garnered worldwide media attention. \u201cI currently have paparazzi camped outside,\u201d he said, adding a laughing-while-crying emoji.<\/p>\n

And, he noted, his \u201cinbox is full of Celine Dion fans asking me to record them a video message!\u201d<\/p>\n

He does, however, see one potential issue on the horizon. \u201cI\u2019ve just moved into a small village and haven\u2019t spoken to many people,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019ll cause quite a stir when I tell them my new name.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, one person who initially was not amused by the change was his mom.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy mother wasn\u2019t best pleased at first, but now she sees the funny side!\u201d he said. \u201cMy friends have said they are not surprised! It was only a few week[s] back I hired an Elsa [from \u2018Frozen\u2019] tribute to perform on my driveway for me when I was drunk because I was bored! Anything is possible!\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that rather than revert to his birth name, at least for now his name change will go on \u2014 \u201cAs it stands \u2013 I\u2019m keeping it!\u201d he said \u2014 though he added that everything \u201cdepends [on] how difficult it makes my life!\u201d<\/p>\n

In the meantime, he said he is hoping to get a chance to eventually talk with or meet his namesake \u2014 whom he last saw in concert in 2019 \u2014 and is working with a UK radio station to see if that can happen.<\/p>\n

But the power of love could be overwhelming for the nouveau<\/em> Dion if that does. <\/p>\n

\u201cYou might think I\u2019m joking. I\u2019ll need to be put on oxygen!\u201d he said. \u201cJust thinking about [it] is making my heart race and my eyes water. It would honestly mean the world and more.\u201d<\/p>\n

The original Dion\u2019s representatives didn\u2019t immediately reply when The Post reached out for comment Friday.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
