The fitness guru, who goes by <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/manotrainer\/?hl=en\">@manotrainer<\/a> on Instagram, said you have to stretch your muscles before getting down to work: \u201cIf you go right to your desk without moving your body you\u2019re in for trouble.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>He suggests committing to this simple, daily practice that takes less than 10 minutes. Within five minutes of waking up, air out the overnight kinks by bending your hips to the right as far as you can, then repeat over to the left. Then, to rev up your lower body, do 20 slow, gentle squats. And it looks like it will stay that way for the foreseeable future \u2014 which is all the more reason to make subtle improvements, said Scott Sonenshein, co-author of <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Joy-Work-Organizing-Your-Professional\/dp\/0316423327?tag=nypost-20\">\u201cJoy at Work\u201d<\/a> with Marie Kondo. <\/p>\n<p>Start by finding ways to delineate when work starts \u2014 and when it ends, he said. How to do this when your boss is emailing you 24\/7? It\u2019s easier than you think.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Create_a_symbolic_commute\"><\/span><strong>Create a symbolic commute<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>This could be a walk down the hallway in your apartment building, or a concerted effort to step away from your home workspace. Sonenshein takes it outside: \u201cIn the morning I like to walk around the block and then walk into my house to start work,\u201d he said. \u201cThen, at the end of the day, I \u2018commute\u2019 back with another walk, which signals to everyone in my house that my work time has ended.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Hide_your_devices\"><\/span><strong>Hide your devices<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>\u201cEmails are intrusive, not just because of the time it takes to read them. It takes 23 minutes for the brain to recover \u2014 to pick up from where it left off,\u201d he said. It bears repeating: You\u2019re not giving yourself a break if you go through your emails. Plus, you probably haven\u2019t eaten much since lunch. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost of us do better when we eat every three or so hours,\u201d said Isabel Smith, an integrative registered dietitian in private practice in New York City. So what\u2019s the best thing to reach for? Surprise: it\u2019s leftovers. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cFood is always going to be more satisfying than snacks,\u201d she said. \u201cLeftover pasta with chicken is a perfect snack since it has a little protein and a little carbs,\u201d she said. \u201cIf you have half an avocado in the fridge from last night\u2019s guacamole, top it with salt or chia seeds or throw it on whole-grain crackers or a piece of toast. Or, make a mini-antipasti plate with a slice or two of turkey, grapes, cut-up veggies and a tiny piece of cheese.\u201d Keep it around one ounce of cheese (either two small dice or a couple of slices) and you\u2019re golden.<\/p>\n<p>Still, working from home means working just steps from the pantry. Consider storing less frequently used items or seasonal items like sunscreen under the cabinet or in a closet nearby.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Another hack from Kinsella? Stock up on small, clear acrylic trays ($3.99 and up from <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.containerstore.com\/s\/rectangle-acrylic-trays\/d?q=clear%20acrylic&amp;productId=11000916\">Container Store<\/a>), which will help you section off items on the shelves and keep them organized. Simply slide out the whole container rather than grabbing for your individual item \u2014 it\u2019ll eliminate the possibility of putting something back where it doesn\u2019t belong.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Tupperware_drawer\"><\/span><strong>Tupperware drawer<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>If you\u2019ve been leaning on Seamless through the pandemic, and you\u2019re not packing lunches, you\u2019re probably overloaded on to-go containers, said Kinsella.<\/p>\n<p>First thing\u2019s first: tackle loose lids. \u201cIf you have a random lid that doesn\u2019t match a bottom, recycle it,\u201d Kinsella said. Keep the good stuff \u2014 \u201cI like containers that nest inside each other like Russian dolls\u201d \u2014 and organize the lids near the bottom of the drawer, so that they\u2019re unlikely to move around when you open it.
