TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> &#8216;Nature Gone Wild&#8217;<\/strong>&#8221;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/12\/greg-aiello.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The new A&amp;E series \u201cNature Gone Wild\u201d takes viewers into the extremes of the great outdoors.<\/p>\n<p>Premiering Wednesday, Jan. 6 at 10 p.m., the show is hosted by professional mountain guide and explorer Greg Aiello, who previously hosted \u201cOutside with Greg Aiello\u201d on PBS and \u201cMotion\u201d on the now-defunct Livewell Network.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On \u201cNature Gone Wild,\u201d Aiello shows viral clips of animal attacks, natural disasters and other outdoor phenomena before contextualizing them with his expert commentary and analysis.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Aiello, 50, answered some questions for The Post about the series.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Your_career_started_in_the_TV_industry_%E2%80%94_how_did_you_go_from_that_to_exploring\"><\/span>Your career started in the TV industry \u2014 how did you go from that to exploring?\u00a0<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Throughout my 20s and up to my early 30s, I worked at affiliate TV stations around the country doing promotional work. Then I just decided that it wasn\u2019t for me. I was using all my sick days and holidays to be in the mountains. That\u2019s where I grew up \u2014 outside of Yosemite \u2014 so I jumped off that track and got a job as a mountain guide. I went full-time guiding for seven to eight years. My brother was in the TV promotion world, too. When Disney\/ABC launched what they called the Livewell Network in 2008, they were starting a group of new shows and we came up with one that was sort of an adventure\/<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a> show called \u201cMotion.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_did_you_come_up_with_the_concept_of_%E2%80%9CNature_Gone_Wild%E2%80%9D\"><\/span>How did you come up with the concept of \u201cNature Gone Wild\u201d?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Everybody has a camera on their phone now, so we\u2019re seeing things that have always been h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ening, but we\u2019re seeing them play out a lot more now. There\u2019s everything from close encounters with tornadoes and lightning and mudslides to bears, crocodiles, angry swans. It\u2019s a cool show because we take you through the emotions. You\u2019ll be laughing really hard at one segment and completely gripped by other ones. I give my breakdown of what happened, what went right and what went wrong. We keep the flow of information coming. There\u2019s a lot of layers to it.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Have_you_yourself_had_encounters_with_wild_animals_that_have_made_you_nervous\"><\/span>Have you yourself had encounters with wild animals that have made you nervous?\u00a0<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>I\u2019ve probably forgotten about a few, I\u2019ve had so many. I\u2019ve had hundreds of bear encounters. I did get stalked for about a mile by a full-grown mountain lion [when] I was by myself hiking in the snow. And then I\u2019ve had really beautiful experiences. I\u2019ve gotten to ride on the back of a whale shark.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Whats_a_common_misconception_about_your_line_of_work\"><\/span>What\u2019s a common misconception about your line of work?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>That it\u2019s easy. Mountain guiding, where I got my chops, is one of the more difficult jobs because you wear so many hats. I\u2019m your medic and your marriage counselor. That part is a ton of hard work. I like to think I\u2019ve paid my dues over the years, that I have a bunch of information and experience for people to draw upon.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_advice_would_you_give_to_would-be_first-time_explorers\"><\/span>What advice would you give to would-be first-time explorers?\u00a0<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The first thing I would say is that if you\u2019re watching the show, don\u2019t let that be the complete indicator about what to expect out there. It\u2019s not like you\u2019re going to put on your backpack and then get swept up by a tornado and chased by a crocodile. That\u2019s probably not going to happen. We\u2019re showing a lot of extremes, but I don\u2019t want people to be afraid of the outdoors. We belong out there. It\u2019s more of a part of us than most people tend to remember. Start slow and easy [and] start close to your house. Go to your local parks.
