“#’Brady Bunch’s Maureen McCormick makes over old homes in new show<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

It makes sense for Maureen McCormick to co-host \u201cFrozen in Time.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2019, McCormick and her \u201cBrady Bunch\u201d castmates starred in HGTV\u2019s \u201cA Very Brady Renovation,\u201d in which they replicated that show\u2019s original studio set inside the house seen on the ABC series<\/a> (1969-74).<\/p>\n

\u201cFrozen in Time,\u201d premiering Monday on nascent streamer discovery+, finds McCormick and designer Dan Vickery (\u201cDesign Star,\u201d \u201cLove It or List It\u201d) making over the interiors of Southern California homes stuck in time warps dating back to the 1950s.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s so interesting in this process is you can see [the homes\u2019 owners] getting excited, then scared, then excited and scared again,\u201d says McCormick, 64. \u201cIt can be a rollercoaster ride for them. They\u2019re thinking, \u2018Are we doing the right thing?\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s so personal.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the series premiere, McCormick and Vickery renovate a house in Laguna Beach with an interior that hasn\u2019t been changed in over 50 years \u2014 including its carpeted kitchen and bathrooms.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a designer in the area who was getting ready to start a renovation on that house with these homeowners and presented [\u2018Frozen in Time\u2019] as a great opportunity for them,\u201d says Vickery. \u201cThe network of people who have been attracted to this series has been huge and we\u2019ve been really grateful.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re working with the clients and making sure they\u2019re interested in taking this journey with us,\u201d he says. \u201cThe people buying these homes or living in them \u2026 there\u2019s something they love about them \u2014 and we want to make sure that\u2019s honored and cherished.\u201d<\/p>\n

As the series unfolds, viewers will see many \u201cFrozen in Time\u201d homeowners frank in their feelings about what they want in the McCormick\/Vickery redesign. \u201cThey\u2019ve often been thinking about this for a long time so they have a lot of opinions, which always results in a better house,\u201d says Vickery. \u201cI\u2019ve been doing design for almost 20 years and those moments where you get pushed are often the times you do your best work.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery story has been so different,\u201d says McCormick, who\u2019s done many home and rental remodelings with her husband, Michael Cummings. \u201cWe never know what we\u2019re going to walk into. The clients have had a chance to think and they\u2019re telling us for the first time what they would like and what they\u2019re hoping for and what they don\u2019t want to change.<\/p>\n

\u201cLivable and functional is always what the owners want; usually if you bought the house, you love it because of the year in which it was built \u2014 and we want to keep that feeling.\u201d<\/p>\n

McCormick and Vickery inevitably discovery leaks, termites, etc. once the renovation process gets underway.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think some of the homeowners have been shocked, and we\u2019ve both been shocked to find some of those damages,\u201d says McCormick. \u201cYou hope you don\u2019t find it but so often you do and obviously that changes the [renovation] budgets \u2026 but people are not going to see that after it\u2019s fixed. They want to put their money into really seeing what\u2019s on the outside but it\u2019s important that everything underneath is healthy \u2014 just like your body.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFrozen in Time\u201d marks the first collaboration between McCormick and Vickery.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have to tell you, it\u2019s so weird \u2026 when you meet someone and feel like you\u2019ve known them forever,\u201d McCormick says of Vickery. \u201cIt\u2019s so comfortable and right away you can contradict each other and have different opinions but in the end you really respect that person and love them. Dan is a real gentleman, a true artist and a great teacher \u2026 and he\u2019s really fun to be around and to spend the day with.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vickery says he didn\u2019t know who his co-host would be when he auditioned for the series.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was told a \u2018female celebrity\u2019 was attached,\u201d he says. \u201cYou know how Hollywood can be and that was a little terrifying. But it was fantastic how we just connected. Maureen is a natural \u2014 she shows me up more than I care to admit.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
