A Bronx bus driver says a quick-acting Good Samaritan saved her life when she was attacked on the job on New Year\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n

Bus driver Charline Alston told The Post she was driving her Bx1 bus north at 12:30 p.m. on the Grand Concourse in Fordham Heights when she noticed a man on East 181st Street running toward her and blocking traffic. <\/p>\n

The man, identified by police as 28-year-old Edward Guerrero, demanded to get on the bus, and when Alston refused, Guerrero allegedly started aggressively banging on the door. <\/p>\n

Alston says she knew there was something off about Guerrero from the moment she saw him. <\/p>\n

\u201cI pretty much know who\u2019s who by observing him,\u201d she said. \u201cI felt that he was a trouble maker.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alston, 47, of Irvington, N.J., had pulled over on the Concourse when Guerrero allegedly smashed her window and started punching her in the head. <\/p>\n

\u201cI was traumatized, I was frightened,\u201d she told The Post. <\/p>\n

\u201cI never thought that I would come to work on New Year\u2019s Day and be assaulted on a job that I\u2019m supposed to come back home from safely. I was just frightened. I was in shock,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Fortunately, Yomboue Pierre Bama, a 35-year-old immigrant from Burkina Faso in West Africa, stepped in to save the day. <\/p>\n

Bama, who lives in the Bronx, was on Alston\u2019s bus on his way to pick up his paycheck at a retail store on Fordham Road when the alleged attack happ<\/a>ened. <\/p>\n

He told The Post he saw the attacker smashing the driver\u2019s window with his fists and then lunging at Alston. <\/p>\n

Bama pleaded with Alston to open the door so he could jump off the bus and chase after Guerrero. The Good Samaritan managed to stop Guerrero and held him at the front of the bus until cops could arrest him, he recalled to The Post.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not letting you go,\u201d Bama says he told Guerrero during the frightening encounter. \u201cI won\u2019t let you go today. You better stop.\u201d <\/p>\n

As Guerrero was being brought back to the scene, he pleaded, \u201cLeave me alone, leave me alone. I didn\u2019t do anything,\u201d according to Bama. <\/p>\n

Alston says she\u2019s extremely thankful Bama quickly stepped in to protect her. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m real grateful for him,\u201d she said. \u201cThe scene could have been much worse.\u201d<\/p>\n

The bus driver added she\u2019s home recovering from her injuries and plans on returning to work eventually. <\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s my passion, driving. I love to drive,\u201d she said. \u201cWe are here to do a service,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

TWU Local 100 Vice President Richie Davis was angry the charges against Guerrero were only misdemeanors. <\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s total BS. This was a felony assault and these charges must be upgraded. We are demanding that the Bronx District Attorney\u2019s Office treat this much more seriously,\u201d he said in a statement Saturday. <\/p>\n

Meanwhile. Pierre Bama says he doesn\u2019t feel like a hero but knew stopping the perp was the right thing to do. <\/p>\n

\u201cI just feel like somebody who\u2019s just trying to help somebody,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

Police say Guerrero has been charged with assault and criminal mischief. The MTA did not immedia<\/a>tely respond to a request for comment.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
