A shoplifting suspect shot and wounded a sheriff\u2019s deputy and two Walmart security officers at a Virginia mall Saturday, authorities said.<\/p>\n

The gunfire erupted around 5 p.m. at a Walmart in the Dulles Crossing Plaza in Sterling, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff\u2019s Office<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Walmart security guards had confronted the suspect after he allegedly stole items from the store, officials said .<\/p>\n

Two deputies arrived at the scene to arrest the suspect, but he pulled out a gun and began shooting at them, striking one officer and the two guards, according to the sheriff\u2019s office.<\/p>\n

The suspect then ran off and drove away in a stolen car. He was later caught and arrested. Charges were pending Sunday.<\/p>\n

The three victims were taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
