\n A Florida college bar got its liquor license suspended after the crowded watering hole was linked to a cluster of new coronavirus cases, officials said.<\/p>\n

The Knight\u2019s Pub, which is located near the University of Central Florida in Orlando, saw the license temporarily revoked Monday after least 13 employees and 28 customers tested positive for the virus, the state\u2019s Department of Business and Professional Regulation said.<\/p>\n

Though health officials suggested the outbreak may be far worse, with about 50% of people who entered the bar falling sick, news<\/a> station WFTV reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have linked 152 cases to that specific location,\u201d Orange County Health Officer Dr. Raul Pino said.<\/p>\n

The license suspension stems from the bar violating reopening guidelines by serving booze to patrons who were not seated for service or social<\/a>ly distanced from each other, news station Fox35 reported.<\/p>\n

Owner Michael D\u2019Esposito defended its health precautions, saying the pub was being used as a \u201cscapegoat.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said the bar had been only reopened for three days in June before the ultimately decided to shut down due to the outbreak.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring that time, we limited the number of customers, disinfected all surfaces and encouraged social distancing,\u201d he wrote on the bar\u2019s Facebook page.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately, despite our limited reopening that was encouraged by political leaders, our establishment is now being used a scapegoat for all COVID-19 cases in the surrounding Orlando area.\u201d<\/p>\n

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Tuesday warned that bars could expect visits from inspectors with the state licensing office.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe guidelines are in place for a reason. We want environments that aren\u2019t going to be a huge risk of transmissions,\u201d DeSantis said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you go in, and it\u2019s Dance Party USA, dancing up to the rafters, that\u2019s not cut-and-dry. There\u2019s no tolerance for that.\u201d<\/p>\n
