\n The father of the Bronx boy who was struck by an illegal firework Wednesday blasted the NYPD and Mayor Bill de Blasio for not doing enough to stop the recent barrage of pyrotechnics.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is just getting worse and I guess thanks to the mayor, he hasn\u2019t taken actions at all against these fireworks and the cops aren\u2019t doing anything at all,\u201d Jesus Rosario, 32, railed from his Anderson Avenue apartment, where 3-year-old Adiel was blasted around 12:15 a.m.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey should definitely put a stop to it. This is out of hand already because no action as been taken at all.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adiel and his 17-year-old sister were watching from their sixth-floor apartment window as a group popped off the fireworks. The teen was filming on her phone when a firework suddenly ripped through the open window, striking Adiel.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was crying and saying, \u2018Firework came in and boom,’\u201d recalled the dad, who was sleeping at the time.<\/p>\n

The boy suffered first- and second-degree burns to his arm and received five stitches to his left bicep. The device also burned through several items in the apartment, including a teddy bear, clothing and a small couch, Rosario said.<\/p>\n

The dad and neighbors in the Highbridge building say they\u2019ve been terrorized by the non-stop firework activity for weeks now.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an every-night thing. Probably for the last two weeks,\u201d Rosario said.<\/p>\n

He said when he scooped the boy up to take him to the hospital, his car was blocked by more fireworks that were going off in the direction of his car.<\/p>\n

He said he told the group of young men setting off the fireworks, \u201cNice show. Look what happ<\/a>ened to my kid. Now I have to go to the hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n

They fled.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, de Blasio\u00a0announced a task force to crack down on illegal fireworks \u2014 but said authorities would only go after the distributors and suppliers, not the pyromaniacs themselves.<\/p>\n

Rosario slammed that plan.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe NYPD should take care of the people doing it because if they don\u2019t put a stop to people doing it, they won\u2019t stop buying it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Rosario said Adiel\u2019s injuries would\u2019ve been worse had the projectile not hit the window guard first.<\/p>\n

\u201cImagine if it was a bigger firework,\u201d he said. \u201cI mean, anybody could get killed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Laura Feyer, a city hall spokeswoman, said the fire marshal is investigating the incident.<\/p>\n

Police said one person is in custody but has not been arrested.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs the mayor has said, life-threatening or dangerous behavior will of course be addressed in the course of enforcement,\u201d Feyer added. \u201cThe larger point of the task force is to cut the supply off at the source.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
