HBO Max is the latest to enter the fray.<\/p>\n<p>Though we\u2019ve been dreading the influx of indie dramas and comedies set in the age of coronavirus, <strong><em>Locked Down<\/em> <\/strong>from <em>Mr. and Mrs. Smith<\/em> director <strong>Doug Liman<\/strong> actually doesn\u2019t look half-bad. That\u2019s mostly because, even though it\u2019s set up as a struggling quarantined relationship dramedy between <strong>Anne Hathaway<\/strong> and <strong>Chiwetel Ejiofor<\/strong>, it\u2019s actually a heist movie. As indicated in their Zoom conversations with friends, it\u2019s really taking a toll on their mental health. But they\u2019re really pushed to the brink when Paxton is furloughed and Linda is forced to fire too many of her employees. That\u2019s when they decide to lash out at the corporate overlords who have made them even more miserable during this shitty situation.<\/p>\n<p>When a shopping mall closes down during quarantine, department stores have to remove all of their merchandise in just a few days. Linda sees this as the perfect opportunity to snag a diamond worth three million pounds from her employer, the glitzy and glamorous luxury department store Herrod\u2019s. With her knowledge of the ins and outs of security, Linda and Paxton make a plan to recoup some of the emotional distress they\u2019ve endure by stealing from the rich. Sounds good to us!<\/p>\n<p><em>Locked Down<\/em> also stars <strong>Stephen Merchant<\/strong>, <strong>Mindy Kaling<\/strong>, <strong>Lucy Boynton<\/strong>, <strong>Dul\u00e9\u00a0Hill<\/strong>, <strong>Jazmyn Simon<\/strong>, with <strong>Ben Stiller<\/strong> and <strong>Ben Kingsley<\/strong>. The film was written by <strong>Steven Knight<\/strong> with <strong>P.J. van\u00a0Sandwijk<\/strong>, <strong>Alison Winter<\/strong> and <strong>Michael Lesslie<\/strong> producing.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In <em>Locked Down<\/em>,\u00a0just as they decide to separate, Linda (Anne Hathaway) and Paxton (Chiwetel Ejiofor) find life has other plans when they are stuck at home in a mandatory lockdown.
