Tone-deaf Hilaria and Alec Baldwin think\u00a0they\u2019re<\/em>\u00a0the victims in her Spanish heritage debacle<\/a> \u2014 whining that the scandal has been \u201ca lot for her,\u201d a new report says.<\/p>\n

The clueless celebrity couple is \u201cvery upset\u201d that her cultural identity and background even \u201care being questioned\u201d and remain \u201cdeeply affected\u201d by the controversy, a source told \u201cEntertainment Tonight.<\/a>\u201c<\/p>\n

\u201cHilaria is such a soft-spoken, kind, caring and loving person, and the harassment and hate that she has been receiving on social media<\/a> has been a lot for her,\u201d the source said.<\/p>\n

But critics say wannabe-lady-of-Spain Hilaria, 36, only brought the shaming on herself \u2014 after allegedly misrepresenting herself as a Spanish native, speaking publicly with a thick accent, changing her first name from Hillary and failing to correct scores of articles over the years that said she was born on the island of Mallorca.<\/p>\n

She is actually a self-described \u201cwhite girl\u201d<\/a> from Boston.<\/p>\n

Hilaria has tearfully taken to social media and the press to say it was everyone else\u2019s fault for reading into her actions \u2014 and that she feels a part of Spanish culture because she used to visit the country as a kid and her family now lives on Mallorca.<\/p>\n

But a young woman who immigrated to the US from Venezuela as a child schooled the\u00a0yoga-loving lifestyle influencer in a column for People magazine.<\/p>\n

\u201cI did feel hurt for myself, my family and every immigrant who can\u2019t flaunt and celebrate their culture in the way she did for one that is not her own,\u201d wrote Ale Russian in a column titled, \u201cWhy the Hilaria Baldwin Scandal is Painful for Immigrants \u2014 Including Me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat Hilaria did is not funny: it\u2019s a slap in the face to so many who are still feeling the effects of actually having the culture that she pretends to have,\u201d\u00a0 said Russian, noting her own name, Alejandrina, was sadly changed by a teacher in first grade and that other immigrants struggle to lose their accents because of bias.<\/p>\n

Russian was promptly mocked by Alec on Twitter.<\/p>\n

Still, the \u201cET\u201d source repeated Hilaria\u2019s claim that her Boston \u201cwhite girl\u201d background has always been known to Alec, who tied the knot with the fitness buff in 2012 \u2014 and he\u2019s behind her 100 percent.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlec unconditionally supports and loves Hilaria in whatever she does and this situation has been no exception,\u201d the source said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are focused on taking care of their small five children and being there for each other as a family.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
