\nBlake Shelton<\/strong>\u2019s fans are NOT about to let haters ruin his new song!<\/p>\n

Countless supporters of the country crooner came to Grammy<\/strong> nominee\u2019s defense after critics accused his new song Minimum Wage<\/em> of being \u201ctone deaf,\u201d since so many people are out of work while The Voice<\/em> coach is worth millions.<\/p>\n

One of those supporters was fellow country star Ronnie Dunn<\/strong> \u2014 one half of the duo Brooks & Dunn<\/strong> \u2014 who wrote a lengthy social media<\/a> post arguing that Blake\u2019s song wasn\u2019t actually offensive, because it\u2019s about a time in the superstar\u2019s life when he was, in fact, broke af.<\/p>\n

Explaining how most musicians struggle financially for years before earning a living from music making, the performer wrote:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe \u2018beef\u2019 is yet another of those misguided social issue (cultural scams) that are concocted to further divide this country. Now, they want to attack country singers for being successful. I slept on a mattress on the floor in a musician friend\u2019s spare bedroom and played BEER JOINTS \/ DIVE BARS for years before I ever made a $100. Most country singers pay dues and go through things to become successful that no sane human being would.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

He\u2019s kinda got a point there!<\/p>\n

The 67-year-old continued:<\/p>\n

\u201cI grew up poor. My father was a truck driver, avid country music fan and oilfield worker all his life. My mother worked a \u2018minimum wage\u2019 job as a small town bank teller to help support a family with four kids. The entire world wants to hitch a free ride on the American Dream. Gwen Stefani<\/strong>\u2018s fianc\u00e9 initially performed the song on NBC<\/strong>\u2019s New Year\u2019s Eve special on December 31. It includes the lines:<\/p>\n

So, clearly the song takes place years before Blake became a household name (who, btw, reportedly raked in $32 million in 2019 alone) \u2014 however, not everyone looked into the lyrics that deeply. After the performance, Twitics fumed:<\/p>\n

\u201cblake shelton singing \u2018your love could make a man feel rich on minimum wage\u2019 just cements the fact that rich people have absolutely no f**king clue\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDoes anyone else find Blake Shelton\u2019s \u2018Minimum Wage\u2019 song to be incredibly tone deaf to our country\u2019s current state?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cA mega millionaire romanticizing minimum wage is peak 2020. Blake Shelton can go f**k himself.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

But fans had Blake\u2019s back, with many asking him to release Minimum Wage<\/em> as a new single. The superstar responded to the overwhelming support \u2014 which app<\/a>arently included a DM from former Van Hale<\/b>n<\/strong> frontman Sammy Hagar<\/b> \u2014 on the social site, tweeting:<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen your fans, @RonnieDunn and @sammyhagar have your back it\u2019s gonna be a good year. Bring it on 2021.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
