Children\u2019s show \u201cCaillou\u201d is officially dead. And parents are dancing on the \u201clittle brat\u2019s\u201d grave. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re saying farewell to @cailloudhx,\u201d PBS Kids announced in a tweet <\/a>along with tips \u201cfor what to do when your child\u2019s favorite media<\/a> goes away.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

But it seems the bald cartoon character was the least-favorite animated star among moms and dads everywhere, who have been celebrating online since the news<\/a> of the show\u2019s cancellation broke. <\/p>\n

\u201cCaillou\u2019s reign of terror is over!!\u201d wrote one relieved viewer<\/a> on Twitter, while other Caillou-skeptics\u2019 complaints have included that the tot is a bootleg Charlie Brown<\/a>, called him a \u201clittle brat\u201d<\/a> and \u201cevil.\u201d<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Another soberly added<\/a>, \u201cYou won\u2019t be missed.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The show first aired in 1997 on Teletoon, and new episodes were released until 2010, after which Caillou reruns ruled the popular-kids station \u2014 until recently.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The perennial 4-year-old clearly did not win over the hearts of the millennial parent set. Per the show\u2019s theme song, Caillou enjoys exploring his fictional world on Pine Street along with his parents, friends, grandparents, pets and puppet pals. The show included segments to teach young ones how to brush their teeth, the days of the week, and how to work through temper tantrums and sibling squabbles, which the titular character apparently struggled with throughout the five seasons the show aired.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cGrowing up is not so tough, \u2018cept when I\u2019ve had enough,\u201d sings Caillou in the show\u2019s theme song sequence,<\/a> which shows the tot throwing toys and beating his fists on the bathroom floors. Videos circulating online show Caillou pinching his baby sister Rosie<\/a>, and whining to his mother<\/a>. Some parents admit that Caillou\u2019s bad behavior on-screen caused them to ban the Canadian series<\/a> from their home.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the one show he wasn\u2019t allowed to watch,\u201d wrote one mother<\/a>. Another PBS-reared adult reminisced, \u201cThis show was banned in my house and many of my friends!\u201d <\/p>\n

Caillou was not without his professional critics either. One op-ed <\/a>from Canadian newspaper the National Post categorized Caillou as a \u201cshameless whiner,\u201d adding that the toon, \u201cturn[s] the show\u2019s young viewers into shrill monsters.\u201d<\/p>\n

With the cancellation kicking off 2021, parents are relieved to see that Caillou is finally getting the punishment they believe he deserved<\/a> all along.<\/p>\n

Caillou passes the torch to a few more recent and more popular PBS cartoon characters including Daniel the Tiger, a former supporting character from \u201cMister Rogers\u2019 Neighborhood\u201d; Pinkalicious, the co-star of \u201cPinkalicious & Peterrific\u201d; and Molly, a 10-year-old Alaska-native protagonist of \u201cMolly of Denali.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n
