A Congressman from Texas says the only weapon he had to protect himself and his staff from an angry mob of Trump protesters at the US Capitol was a baseball ball. <\/p>\n

Rep. Michael McCaul told KTRK-TV<\/a> he and his staff barricaded themselves inside his office when they learned the rioters had broken into the building. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe heard the mob outside our office door and we barricaded it with a couch,\u201d McCaul told the outlet. \u201cThat\u2019s really all we had. We can\u2019t carry weapons in the Capitol, and have to rely on Capitol Police.\u201d <\/p>\n

The congressman said he then grabbed a baseball bat from his office and was ready to put it in use in case the protesters broke down his door.<\/p>\n

\u201cI picked up a baseball bat. That\u2019s all I had to protect myself in the event they broke into the office,\u201d McCaul said. <\/p>\n

Police managed to evacuate members of Congress safely from Capitol Hill before the mob of protesters ransacked several offices, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi\u2019s.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
