However, I would like to address 5 key questions I\u2019ve seen. 1\/10<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Brad Garlinghouse (@bgarlinghouse) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bgarlinghouse\/status\/1347275356638638080?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 7, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>In a Twitter <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bgarlinghouse\/status\/1347275356638638080?s=20\">thread<\/a> addressing what he described as \u201c5 key questions\u201d, the CEO strongly denied the \u201cSEC\u2019s unproven allegations\u201d and claimed his firm is \u201con the right side of the facts and of history.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Garlinghouse said Ripple would continue to work towards a settlement with the SEC: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cKnow we tried &#8211; and will continue to try w\/ the new administration &#8211; to resolve this in a way so the XRP community can continue innovating, consumers are protected and orderly markets are preserved.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The SEC filed a $1.38 billion lawsuit against Ripple, Garlinghouse, and co-founder Chris Larsen, in December over the sale of XRP as unregistered securities. Since the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> broke more than 25 platforms including Coinbase, Bittrex, OKCoin and Bitstamp, have suspended trading or delisted the token.<\/p>\n<p>Garlinghouse did not directly address whether Ripple had ever paid for exchanges to list XRP, however he did say that it was one of the most liquid digital assets in the world and that 95% was traded outside the U.S. He was unable to answer when the token would be relisted, noting that \u201cRipple has no control over where XRP gets listed, who owns it,\u201d calling it open-source and decentralized.<\/p>\n<p>Garlinghouse\u2019s answer, however, left many readers wanting more:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">You don\u2019t actually answer whether the company paid listing fees for any specific exchange. Did you?<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ryan Selkis (@twobitidiot) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/twobitidiot\/status\/1347276484092821505?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 7, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Garlinghouse indicated the company was dis<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ointed that one of their biggest investors, Tetragon, who owns 1.5% of the company, had filed a related lawsuit, however he claimed the company\u2019s other investors still had faith in Ripple. <\/p>\n<p>Garlinghouse said Ripple was currently drafting its response to the lawsuit which it will file within weeks, adding that Ripple\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">General<\/a> Counsel Stuart Alderoty will provide more information.<\/p>\n<p>The Ripple CEO said he was more optimistic about the chances for appropriate regulation in 2021 and that he expected the Digital Commodity Exchange Act to be reintroduced:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe\u2019ve moved from lack of regulatory clarity to regulatory chaos in the U.S. This is why regulation by enforcement is such bad public policy. With the new administration, we expect<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/DCEA?src=hashtag_click\"> #DCEA<\/a> to be reintroduced &#8211; common-sense legislation providing clarity to the entire industry.\u201d <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Controversy isn\u2019t a new thing for the firm behind crypto\u2019s fourth largest coin by <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/en\">market cap<\/a>. Over the last few years, Ripple has been stung by criticism over its massive token liquidations, in addition to a class-action lawsuit accusing Garlinghouse of misleading investors about the attractiveness of XRP.<\/p>\n<p>Despite this week\u2019s recovery of 48%, the token is still 44% down in price on 30 days ago, according to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/en\/coins\/xrp\">CoinGecko<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The SEC\u2019s case comes on the back of last year\u2019s wins against the two social media platforms, Telegram and Kik after both violated U.S. security laws in relation to initial coin offerings.<\/p>\n<p><template data-name=\"subscription_form\" data-type=\"law_decoded\"><\/template><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
