It\u2019s impossible to sign up for Fitness+ without an Apple Watch. However, once you\u2019re signed up, you don\u2019t strictly need an Apple Watch to do a workout.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"You_Dont_Need_an_Apple_Watch_to_Start_a_Workout\"><\/span>You Don\u2019t Need an Apple Watch to Start a Workout<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If your Apple Watch is out of battery, left at your parents\u2019 house, or otherwise not connected, when you go to start a workout on your iPhone or iPad (but not an Apple TV), you\u2019ll see a pop up explaining that without it, you won\u2019t be able to see your heart rate and calorie burn on the screen.<\/p>\n<p>Tap \u201cWork Out Without Watch\u201d to start the workout anyway.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"admonishment_note\"><p><strong>Note:<\/strong> Any workout you do without an Apple Watch way won\u2019t count towards closing your Activity rings as there\u2019s no recorded calories burned.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Fitness_Is_Designed_Ffor_the_Apple_Watch\"><\/span>Fitness+ Is Designed Ffor the Apple Watch<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Fitness+ is clearly not really designed to be used without an Apple Watch. It tracks your workout metrics and shows them on screen. For example, this makes it easy to check your heart rate. You can see how your effort compares against other people in the same workout. Apple Fitness is all about this integration.<\/p>\n<p>But, if you don\u2019t have your Apple Watch on you and you want to start a workout, Apple Fitness+ won\u2019t stop you from getting your sweat on.<\/p>\n<p>If you don\u2019t have an Apple Watch and you want to get started with Apple Fitness+, consider <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reviewgeek.com\/54152\/which-apple-watch-should-you-buy\/\">buying an Apple Watch<\/a>. You can get an <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Apple-Watch-GPS-38mm-Space-Aluminium\/dp\/B07K39FRSL?tag=hotoge-20\">Apple Watch Series 3<\/a> for less than $200, and it works with Apple Fitness+<\/p>\n<p>In theory, if you really wanted to sign up to Fitness+ but don\u2019t own an Apple Watch, you could borrow one, pair it with your iPhone, sign up, then reset the watch and give it back.
