\u201cPolice Academy\u201d star Marion Ramsey has died at 73-years-old.<\/p>\n

The comedic actress\u2019 management confirmed the news<\/a> on Thursday afternoon \u2013 though no cause of death has been determined. However, Deadline<\/a> reported that she had been sick recently.<\/p>\n

Marion was best known for playing Officer Laverne Hooks in \u201cPolice Academy.\u201d The star\u2019s signature role came in the 1984 hit that starred Steve Guttenberg.\u00a0Her high-pitched voice and comedic timing made her character a standout in the film.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cPolice Academy\u201d was such a success, five sequels spawned over the next five years with Marion app<\/a>earing in all of them.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She also appeared in the hit 1978 Broadway show \u201cEubie!\u201d<\/p>\n

Marion, who was born in Philadelphia, began her on-stage career just four years before, performing in productions of \u201cHello, Dolly!\u201d\u00a0The entertainer later starred alongside acting legend Bette Davis in the musical \u201cMiss Moffat\u201d \u2013 which went on to become a massive flop.<\/p>\n

Around this time, Marion transitioned from stage to screen and scored a guest role on a 1976 episode of \u201cThe Jefferson\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
