\n A man critically injured in one of the shootings inside Seattle\u2019s chaotic, cop-free CHAZ claims it was a hate crime committed by racist infiltrators who dropped the N-word.<\/p>\n

DeJuan Young told KIRO 7 that he was fleeing the sound of gunshots from where a teenager was shot dead early Saturday when he was accosted by at least four men who dropped a racial slur when they shot him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not sure if they\u2019re Proud Boys or KKK,\u201d Young told the station of the attack in the so-called \u201cCapital Hill Autonomous Zone.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut the verbiage that they said was, \u2018Hold this n\u2014r\u2019 \u2014 and shot me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking from a hospital bed, Young told the station that the force knocked him onto the hood of a car.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd they stood over top of me and continued to fire,\u201d he said. \u201cI tried to protect myself and got shot in the arm,\u201d he claimed of the assailants who app<\/a>arently managed to disappear afterwards.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m positive this was a hate crime,\u201d he told King 5 news<\/a> in a separate interview.<\/p>\n

Volunteers in the zone \u2014 also known as \u201cCHOP,\u201d or Capitol Hill Organized Protest \u2014 rushed him to the hospital because emergency services struggled to access the controversial area.<\/p>\n

Young says he is angry at the lack of help from cops \u2014 even though he concedes keeping them away was central to the protest.<\/p>\n

\u201cI understand everybody\u2019s going to say, \u2018Oh, it was the CHAZ zone and ya\u2019ll asked for the police not to be there, so don\u2019t act like ya\u2019ll need them now,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Young told King 5 it has not changed his resolve to push for the police to be defunded.<\/p>\n

Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best accused protesters of thwarting the efforts of police and other first responders to help the shooting victims, including Lorenzo Anderson, 19, who died.<\/p>\n
