It may be time for these two outlaws to find a new line of work. <\/p>\n

In Staffordshire, England, a pair of men were handily app<\/a>rehended by police on Jan. 6 after one of the men accidentally dialed \u201c999,\u201d the British equivalent of 911, from a cellphone in his pocket during their alleged break-in.<\/p>\n

Local police chief John Owen later dubbed the men the \u201cworld\u2019s unluckiest burglars\u201d on Twitter<\/a>, comparing them to the calamitous crooks of 1990 classic \u201cHome Alone,\u201d played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think we have just arrested the world\u2019s unluckiest burglars,\u201d Chief Inspector Owen tweeted<\/a>, first reported by LADBible<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhilst committing a burglary one of the bungling burglars has accidentally sat on his phone & dialled 999,\u201d he explained. \u201cWe (received) a call detailing all of their antics up to the point of hearing our patrols arrive to arrest them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Owen\u2019s tweet prompted a slew of cracks at the brainless bandits. <\/p>\n

\u201cHow considerate, criminals phoning the police to let them know a crime is in progress! Let\u2019s hope this starts a trend!,\u201d wrote @ScraseJason<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd this weeks darwin award goes to lol\u201d joked @gerrydrabble<\/a>.<\/p>\n

These aren\u2019t the first to be digitally dragged for their criminal folly. In 2017, the Okaloosa County Sheriff\u2019s Office in Florida shared the hapless tale of Chandler Ridge Carlyle, then 18, who was caught for stealing a cellphone by answering a FaceTime call from the police \u2014 via an anonymous number \u2014 on the mobile device in question. <\/p>\n

The clever copper quickly snapped a screenshot of the culprit\u2019s face before they hung up. Carlyle was swiftly identified and brought to the station under charges of grand theft.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
