Moon Knight<\/em><\/strong>, one of the many new Marvel shows headed to Disney+, has found its directors:\u00a0Justin Benson<\/strong> and Aaron Moorhead<\/strong>. Benson and Moorhead are behind great indie genre pics like\u00a0Resolution<\/em>, Spring<\/em>, The Endless<\/em>, and the recent Synchronic<\/em>, making\u00a0Moon Knight<\/em> the biggest project they\u2019ve been involved with yet.\u00a0Oscar Isaac<\/strong> is set to star in\u00a0Moon Knight<\/em>, which follows \u201can ex-Marine turned mercenary whose multiple alter egos allow him to better fight crime.\u201d<\/p>\n

THR<\/a> has the scoop about\u00a0Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead landing the job of\u00a0Moon Knight<\/em> directors.\u00a0Mohamed Diab<\/strong> will also direct the series<\/a> and serve as showrunner.\u00a0Benson and Moorhead will direct \u201cseveral episodes,\u201d while\u00a0The\u00a0<\/em>Umbrella Academy<\/em>\u2018s Jeremy Slater<\/strong> is running the writer\u2019s room. Created in 1975,\u00a0Moon Knight<\/em> is kind of like Marvel\u2019s answer to\u00a0Batman<\/em> \u2013 a millionaire who fights crime using cool gadgets. The character\u2019s alter ego is \u201cMarc Spector, an ex-Marine turned mercenary whose multiple alter egos allow him to better fight crime,\u201d and in the comics it\u2019s been revealed that Spector is \u201ca conduit for the Egyptian moon god Khonshu.\u201d Here\u2019s some more info via the Marvel Wiki<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Marc Spector aka Moon Knight was a Jewish-American former US Marine turned C.I.A. agent. After leaving both organizations in disgrace he became a soldier of fortune. He was left for dead in the desert, on a mercenary mission in Egypt, where an idol of the Egyptian moon god; Khonshu, saved him and gave him his moon-based powers. Returning to the US with a newfound lease on life he took up multiple identities such as \u201cSteven Grant\u201d, and \u201cJake Lockley\u201d to fight crime which, when alongside childhood trauma, also caused him to lapse back into Dissociative Identity Disorder.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Oscar Isaac is attached to star, and THR says the show is supposed to start shooting in Budapest this March. I\u2019ll tell you now that I\u2019m not exactly well-versed in the world of\u00a0Moon Knight<\/em>, but I\u2019m very excited to see Benson and Moorhead land such a high-profile gig.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been following their work since the jump, starting with their feature debut, 2012\u2019s\u00a0Resolution<\/em>. Since that film their output has grown even better and more ambitious, with the best of the bunch \u2013 so far at least \u2013 being 2014\u2019s romantic horror movie\u00a0Spring<\/em>, which kind of plays out like H.P. Lovecraft wrote the\u00a0Before\u2026<\/em>\u00a0trilogy. Their most recent movie was the ambitious\u00a0Synchronic<\/em>, which featured Marvel player\u00a0Anthony Mackie.<\/p>\n

After the Moon Knight<\/em>\u00a0news<\/a> broke, Moorhead wrote on Twitter<\/a>: \u201cI still can\u2019t quite wake up from this dream I\u2019m having, that we\u2019re directing Oscar Isaac in a Marvel show. It\u2019s really happ<\/a>ening.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moon Knight<\/em> will likely hit Disney+ in 2022<\/strong>.
