The pair discussed \u201cavailable precautions for preventing an unstable president from initiating military hostilities or accessing the launch codes and ordering a nuclear strike,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n<p>Drew Hammill, Pelosi\u2019s deputy chief of staff <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Drew_Hammill\/status\/1347598063620206592\" class=\"icon none\">said Friday<\/a> that a laptop used by the Speaker\u2019s office for presentations was stolen from a conference room during the Capitol invasion Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Katherine Clark of Massachusetts, the fourth ranking Democrat in the House leadership, said on Twitter Friday that her caucus is \u201cactively working to determine the timeline and the quickest path to hold Trump accountable,\u201d which could include voting on impeachment by the middle of next week. <\/p>\n<div data-layout=\"inline\n              \" data-layout-mobile=\"\" class=\"\n        media-object\n        type-InsetTweet\n          inline\n    scope-web|mobileapps\n  article__inset\n        article__inset--type-InsetTweet\n          article__inset--inline\n  \"><\/p>\n<div class=\"dynamic-inset-container article__inset__dynamic\">\n<style>\n            iframe.twitter-tweet {\n                width: 100% !important;\n            }\n        <\/style>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" lang=\"en\"><p>\n            <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepKClark\/status\/1347537240403144704\"><\/a>\n            <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>        <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>       Even moderate Democrats, including Rep. Elissa Slotkin of Michigan and Rep. Abigail Spanberger of Virginia called for the president\u2019s removal.  \u201cIf we refuse to respond to a U.S. President inciting an uprising against our democracy, we risk losing it forever,\u201d Spanberger <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepSpanberger\/status\/1347351804263211010\/photo\/1\" class=\"icon none\">said in a statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTime  \u2014 along with securing 67 senators to convict  \u2014 would seem to be the two biggest impediments\u201d to removing Trump from office through impeachment, wrote  Chris Krueger, an analyst  with Cowen Washington Research Group, in a client note Friday.  \u201cArticles of impeachment would have to be drawn, House Judiciary Committee hearing &amp; vote, House vote, then a Senate trial in <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roximately 300 hours during a pandemic.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The constitution, however, does not require the House hold a vote in the judiciary committee, and a group of House Democrats have already unveiled a resolution that charges Trump with abusing the power of the president  \u201cby attempting to unlawfully overturn the results of the November 2020 Presidential election in the State of Georgia\u201d and \u201cto incite violence and orchestrate an attempted coup against our country,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/rollcall.com\/2021\/01\/07\/house-prepared-to-impeach-trump-if-pence-cabinet-dont-remove-him-pelosi-says\/\" class=\"icon none\">according to Roll Call<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>This resolution could be voted on by the House in relatively short order, but the real obstacle for removing the president would be the Senate, where the standing rules require there to be a formal trial before voting on removal. <\/p>\n<div id=\"cx-membership-tile\"><\/div>\n<p>President Trump\u2019s first impeachment trial took about two weeks to complete, and it was a relatively speedy affair given that no witnesses were called. The Senate could agree by unanimous consent to change the rules on impeachment to allow a fast vote on removal, but it is unlikely to happen given that several Republicans in the upper house remain loyal to the president, with others at least reluctant to oust him from office.<\/p>\n<p>To actually remove the president from office, 2\/3 of the Senate would have to vote to remove him from office. With 49 senators caucusing with the Democrats currently, that means 18 Republicans would have to vote to convict. <\/p>\n<p>Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah, the only Republican to vote to remove Trump from office during his impeachment trial last year, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/igorbobic\/status\/1347042292306161664\" class=\"icon none\">told the Huffington Post Thursday<\/a> that \u201cI think time is a little short\u201d to pursue impeachment. \u201cI think we\u2019ve got to hold our breath for the next 20 days,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHouse can pass articles of impeachment relatively quickly, but Senate trial would be lengthy and therefore unlikely,\u201d wrote Steve Pavlick, head of policy at Renaissance Macro in a Friday note to clients.  <\/p>\n<p>Sen.
