But adding a second app can be convoluted unless you\u2019re using the tablet with a keyboard. Here\u2019s how to quickly open iPad apps in Split View from search using a keyboard.<\/p>\n<p>You might be familiar with the traditional method of using Split View on your iPad. You swipe up to bring up the Dock and drag an app to the edge of the screen to add it to Split View. But what if the app that you want to add isn\u2019t in the Dock?<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_Quickly_Open_iPad_Apps_in_Split_View_Using_Universal_Search\"><\/span>How to Quickly Open iPad Apps in Split View Using Universal Search<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The Universal Search feature\u00a0introduced in iPadOS 14\u00a0simplifies the multitasking feature by letting you add any app to Split View.<\/p>\n<p>After opening an app on your iPad, use the Command+Space keyboard shortcut on your keyboard to bring up the floating Universal Search feature. AssistiveTouch is an accessibility feature that brings a floating Home button with quick gesture shortcuts to your display. You can assign a double-tap gesture to the floating Home button that will quickly open \u201cUniversal Search\u201d on top of the current app.<\/p>\n<p>To enable this feature, open the \u201cSettings\u201d app. From there, go to the \u201cAccessibility\u201d section.
