“#How to Set Up Customizable Motion Zones on Ring Security Cameras”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Amazon has made it easier to only get the motion notifications you want from your Ring cameras with customizable motion zones. While they\u2019ve always had motion-detecting capabilities, these zones will help you only monitor the areas most important to you. Here\u2019s how.<\/p>\n

First, open up the \u201cRing\u201d app<\/a> on your iPhone<\/a>, iPad<\/a>, or Android<\/a> device, and select the camera you\u2019d like to customize.<\/p>\n

Next, tap the gear icon.<\/p>\n

Select the \u201cMotion Settings\u201d option from the camera\u2019s settings menu.<\/p>\n

If this is your first time setting up Motion Zones, you\u2019ll be met with a popup explaining them. Tap \u201cContinue.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the \u201cMotion Settings\u201d menu, tap \u201cEdit Motion Zones.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Tap<\/p>\n

The first motion zone defaults to a generic zone (highlighted blue). To make your own, tap \u201cAdd Zone.\u201d<\/p>\n

A series<\/a> of dots will appear around the highlighted area. Drag them to create your first zone. The first zone will be highlighted blue. Once done, you can name the zone and then tap \u201cSave Zone.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Move<\/p>\n

You can now see your first zone (in this case, the one named Side Yard). If you\u2019d like to create another, tap \u201cAdd Zone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Like the first zone, drag the dots to arrange the highlighted area for your new zone. This second zone will be highlighted red. Name it and then tap \u201cSave Zone.\u201d You can only create three Motion Zones per camera.<\/p>\n

You\u2019re done! If you need to, you can come back and adjust the zones as needed, tweak the sensitivity of the motion zones, or even activate \u201cPeople Only Mode,\u201d which only notifies you if the camera sees a person walk through one of your zones.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
