The California woman dubbed \u201cSoho Karen\u201d for falsely accusing a black teen of stealing her iPhone and allegedly attacking him at a Big App<\/a>le hotel says she can\u2019t be racist because she\u2019s a \u201cwoman of color.\u201d<\/p>\n

Miya Ponsetto, 22, made the remarks during a previously filmed interview with \u201cCBS This Morning\u201d anchor Gayle King that was teased on Twitter Monday<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Over the weekend, Ponsetto was charged with attempted robbery, grand larceny, acting in a manner injurious to a child and two counts of attempted assault over the alleged Dec. 26 caught-on-camera attack on 14-year-old Keyon Harrold Jr. at Manhattan\u2019s Arlo Hotel.<\/p>\n

The teen victim is the son of jazz trumpet player Keyon Harrold.<\/p>\n

Ponsetto, who showed up to the nationally televised interview wearing a hat that said \u201cDaddy,\u201d recounted the incident with King.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had noticed my phone had been missing. So I just approached the hotel manager, asked him if he could kindly just check the footage,\u201d Ponsetto recalled.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn my opinion, I was, like, \u2018OK, any person walking down could possibly be the person that might\u2019ve had my phone.\u2019 And I, I really didn\u2019t, I wasn\u2019t racial profiling whatsoever. I\u2019m a woman. I\u2019m Puerto Rican. I\u2019m, like, a woman of color. I\u2019m Italian, Greek, Puerto Rican.\u201d<\/p>\n

King then asked, \u201cYou keep saying you\u2019re Puerto Rican. Does that mean that you can\u2019t be racist because you\u2019re saying you\u2019re a woman of color? Is that what you mean?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cExactly,\u201d Ponsetto replied, prompting King to add, \u201cI would disagree with that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The CBS interview was conducted before Ponsetto was arrested in California last week and before she was extradited to New York to face the charges.<\/p>\n

At her arraignment in the case Saturday, Ponsetto was sprung on supervised release.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
