\n An Ohio cop resigned after he was caught posting \u201chighly inapp<\/a>ropriate\u201d content on social media<\/a> that suggested he would shoot people, police said.<\/p>\n

The Canton police officer, identified in reports as six-year veteran Andrew Russ, resigned prior to being terminated over the Instagram post he made late Tuesday, police announced Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe officer\u2019s conduct is unacceptable and not in line with the standards of the Canton Police Department,\u201d Chief Jack Angelo said in a statement. \u201cThe Canton Police Department condemns all forms of racism. Please do not judge all officers by the actions of one former officer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Video posted to Twitter Tuesday showed a man identified as Russ wearing tactical gear while holding a canned beverage as 50 Cent\u2019s 2003 hit \u201cMany Men\u201d plays, complete with lyrics on screen.<\/p>\n

\u201cMany men wish death upon me, blood in my eye dawg and I can\u2019t see, I\u2019m tryin\u2019 to be what I\u2019m destined to be, and n\u2014-s tryin\u2019 to take my life away,\u201d the post read. \u201cI put a hole in [a] n\u2014- for f\u2013king with me.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 15-second post also shows Russ sticking out his tongue while making a hand gesture and a middle figure emoji.<\/p>\n

The Instagram post came amid six consecutive days of protests in Canton in the aftermath of George Floyd\u2019s Memorial Day death in police custody in Minneapolis, the Columbus Dispatch reports.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t even want to know a reason why he did it,\u201d Angelo told the news<\/a>paper. \u201cIt\u2019s indefensible. In 31 years, I\u2019ve never been so upset with a police officer as I was with him.\u201d<\/p>\n

After seeing Russ\u2019 video, Angelo sent a patrol supervisor to his home to get his gun, badge and other city equipment. He was placed on suspension and a determination hearing was set for Wednesday, Angelo said.<\/p>\n

Russ then proceeded to skip the hearing and resigned, the newspaper reports.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe actually in the past was a good officer,\u201d the chief continued. \u201cI don\u2019t know what his issues were. But his past is irrelevant when you do something like this. In these circumstances, there was no alternative other than for him to be terminated.\u201d<\/p>\n

The post was only up for 5 to 10 minutes before it was taken down, the Dispatch reports.<\/p>\n

Russ, who could not be reached for comment Thursday, got in touch with a police union president to arrange his resignation prior to the hearing, a police spokesman told The Post.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe communicated solely with the union president and so it basically went from what you saw on the video to his resignation,\u201d Lt. Dennis Green said. \u201cThere was no dialogue in-between.\u201d<\/p>\n

A message seeking comment from 50 Cent\u2019s reps was not immediately returned Thursday.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
