Kevin Feige<\/strong>, that master of deception, that ace of spies, that international man of mystery, is very good at not giving anything away. As the head honcho over at Marvel Studios, part of Feige\u2019s job includes deftly dancing around rumors about upcoming Marvel projects to keep an air of mystery and surprise intact. While 2020 was free of the MCU, 2021 is kicking-off with\u00a0WandaVision<\/em><\/strong>, which means Feige is making the rounds, giving interviews, and stopping short of confirming various rumors. Case in point: when Feige was recently asked about the many surprising\u00a0Spider-Man 3<\/em><\/strong> casting rumors, he punted \u2013 but also gave us all a clue as to what\u2019s going on.<\/p>\n

While the upcoming\u00a0Spider-Man: Far From Home<\/em> is, of course, bringing back main franchise players like Tom Holland<\/strong> and\u00a0Zendaya<\/strong>, the still-untitled film made big headlines when word started trickling in that actors from previous Spidey franchises would be app<\/a>earing as well. So far, those names include Jamie Foxx<\/strong> returning as\u00a0The Amazing Spider-Man 2<\/em>\u2018s Electro and\u00a0Alfred Molina<\/strong> as\u00a0Spider-Man 2<\/em>\u2018s Doc Oc. Those are the two actors with the most confirmation so far, but there have been rumors that previous Peter Parkers Tobey Maguire<\/strong> and Andrew Garfield<\/strong> might also pop-up in the flick.
\nNeedless to say, Feige doesn\u2019t confirm any of this. In an interview with Comic Book<\/a>, Feige said:\u00a0\u201cI\u2019ve read some things. I\u2019m not sure I\u2019ve read all things. The fun thing about online speculation when it comes to our stuff is how sometimes it couldn\u2019t be more off the mark and sometimes it\u2019s shockingly close, and that\u2019s held true for the last few years. But saying which is which would take all the fun out of everything.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, much like the infamous serial killer The Snowman, Feige\u00a0also<\/em> gave us all the clues as to what exactly is going on in the MCU, and, by extension,\u00a0Spider-Man 3<\/em>, saying:\u00a0\u201cThe biggest clue is the title of the second\u00a0Doctor Strange<\/em>\u00a0movie. That\u2019s the biggest clue of where the\u00a0Multiverse of Madness<\/em>\u00a0is taking us and how we\u2019re exploring that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Benedict Cumberbatch<\/strong>\u2018s Doctor Strange is confirmed to appear in\u00a0Spider-Man 3<\/em>, and the multiverse idea would certainly allow the third MCU\u00a0Spider-Man<\/em> film to bring in those characters from previous films by presenting them as inhabiting alternate universes. The multiverse concept was actually introduced in\u00a0Spider-Man: Far From Home<\/em> by Jake Gyllenhaal\u2019s Mysterio \u2013 but there, it turned out to be an elaborate ruse, whereas\u00a0Multiverse of Madness<\/em> will (presumably) feature the real deal.<\/p>\n

While things could always change,\u00a0Spider-Man 3<\/em> (which, again, isn\u2019t the official title) is set to arrive on\u00a0December 17, 2021<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
