“#Palm Springs Team Making Sci-Fi Comedy for App<\/a>le Studios \u2013 \/Film<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Palm Springs <\/em>duo\u00a0Andy Samberg<\/strong> and writer Andy Siara<\/strong> are teaming with producers Ben Stiller<\/strong> and Noah Hawley<\/strong> for an untitled sci-fi comedy-drama over at Apple Studios. The idea for the project comes from\u00a0Raphael Bob-Waksberg<\/strong>, creator of\u00a0BoJack<\/em> Horseman<\/em>, but we have no plot details at the moment. Siara, who wrote\u00a0Palm Springs<\/em>, is handling the script, while Samberg, Hawley, and Bob-Waksberg will produce with Ben Stiller.<\/p>\n

THR<\/a> has the scoop regarding this untitled sci-fi comedy, and it\u2019s the type of story that drives me bonkers. Why? Because we know absolutely nothing about it. Sure, we know the names of the folks involved, and we know that it\u2019s a \u201csci-fi comedy-drama that has landed at Apple Studios.\u201d But that\u2019s it, really. No plot details. No logline. Nothing. It\u2019s a bit maddening, to tell you the truth.
\nBut the amount of talent involved with the project is too interesting to overlook. Andy Samberg and Andy Siara are both coming off of\u00a0Palm Springs<\/em>, a well-received sci-fi comedy that Samberg produced and starred in and Siara wrote. The time-loop comedy had Samberg playing a guy reliving the same day, over and over again,\u00a0Groundhog Day<\/em>-style. Whatever this new project is, Siara is once again handling the script and Samberg while Samberg will again star and produce. Siara will also executive produce.<\/p>\n

Noah Hawley, the creator of the\u00a0Fargo<\/em> TV series<\/a>, is also producing through his company 26 Keys, along with 26 Keys\u2019 Dan Seligmann. Bob-Waksberg will also produce, and so will Ben Stiller and Nicky Weinstock via Red Hour, with Red Hour\u2019s Jackie Cohn executive producing. Yes, folks, that\u2019s all I really have for you: a list of producers. I wish I had more. Beyond all, that, THR adds that this new project \u201cdrew instant interest thanks to the buzz\u00a0Palm Springs<\/em>\u00a0is generating this awards season,\u201d and that the team working on this film \u201cwill look to attach a director in the coming months.\u201d<\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t love\u00a0Palm Springs<\/em> as much as everyone else, but I thought it was a cute, entertaining film. I was a big fan of\u00a0BoJack Horseman<\/em>, so I\u2019m very curious to see what Bob-Waksberg has come up with here (although if I\u2019m being honest, I\u2019d be even more interested if he were also writing the script). Here\u2019s hoping we learn more about whatever the hell this is \u2013 a plot synopsis would be cool! \u2013 sometime very soon.<\/p>\n
