At the time, it was not confirmed whether or not the film would make it to theaters too, but last week, Paramount officially pulled it from its theatrical schedule, making it a Hulu-exclusive debut.<\/p>\n<p>Starring Day (<em>Cars 3<\/em>) in her live-action feature film debut,\u00a0<em>The United States vs. Billie Holiday<\/em>\u00a0follows Holiday early in her career as she is \u201ctargeted by the Federal Department of Narcotics with an undercover sting operation led by black Federal Agent Jimmy Fletcher, with whom she had a tumultuous affair\u201d and marks Daniels\u2019 big return to feature filmmaking after 2013\u2019s\u00a0<em>The Butler<\/em>. And considering the director\u2019s history of Oscar-nominated fare like <em>The Butler<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Precious<\/em>, we can expect Day to get some late awards season buzz in what is expected to be the Grammy nominee\u2019s breakout role.<\/p>\n<p>Based on her performance in the trailer, Day certainly nails the Lady Day\u2019s signature raspy vocals, performing the classic Blues songs with a fiery passion \u2014 especially Billie Holiday\u2019s hit track \u201cStrange Fruit,\u201d a controversial song about lynching that would earn her the ire of the FBI, and make her the target of a federal investigation that \u2014 along with her drug addiction \u2014 would send her to prison and derail her career.<\/p>\n<p>Daniels directs the film from a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a>\u00a0by playwright\u00a0<strong>Suzan-Lori Parks<\/strong>.
