organizations on Wednesday urged governments not to extend the delays prescribed by COVID-19 vaccine developers between the first and second shot, as the U.K. has begun to do to deal with current bottlenecks or shortages.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"articleList\">\n<li>\n      Governments and national health authorities should \u201cstick to the dosing that has been assessed in clinical trials,\u201d said the European Federation of Pharmaceuticals Manufacturers and Associations, the U.S. Bio<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> Industry Organization, and the Pharmaceuticals Research and Manufacturers of America, in a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/12b887b0-accd-4990-a2f1-689193d0b398\" class=\"icon none\">joint release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      Any change in dosing or schedule \u201cshould follow the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/sciencee\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"Science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">science<\/a> and be based on transparent deliberation of available data,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      The U.K. government earlier this year devised plans to extend the interval between two doses to up to 12 weeks, against the minimal three weeks prescribed by manufacturers, triggering criticism from BioNTech<br \/>\n        BNTX,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/214419716\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-2.69%<\/bg-quote><span>,<\/span><br \/>\n       a developer of the first vaccine to be <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roved. Other countries, such as Germany, are considering similar steps.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      The World Health Organization <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/immunizations-coronavirus-pandemic-united-nations-bb16e94b0726ca810835b7a78b1f86f6\" class=\"icon none\">said last week <\/a>that although \u201can interval of 21 to 38 days\u201d was recommended for the vaccine developed by BioNTech and U.S. drug company Pfizer<br \/>\n        PFE,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/202877789\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-0.85%<\/bg-quote><span>,<\/span><br \/>\n       that could be extended up\u00a0to 42 days (six weeks)\u201d due to the current \u201cexceptional circumstances.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, on the other hand, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/news-events\/press-announcements\/fda-statement-following-authorized-dosing-schedules-covid-19-vaccines\" class=\"icon none\">said on Jan. 4 <\/a>that \u201cchanges to authorized dosing or schedules\u201d would be \u201cpremature and not rooted solidly in the available evidence.\u201d Barring appropriate data, it added, this would represent a \u201csignificant risk of placing public health at risk.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      The European Medicines Agency has also expressed its skepticism on an intervals extension.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Read: <\/strong>Why Boris Johnson is said to be considering a stricter lockdown<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n       <strong>The outlook:<\/strong> The U.K. decision, triggered by the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic spike and the ambitious vaccination campaign the government has set, is now coming under fire from the pharmaceuticals industry.
