“How NYC looters pull off \u2018well organized\u2019 scheme to target high-end stores<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

The looters ransacking luxe stores in Soho app<\/a>ear to be large, rival groups engaged in a \u201cvery well-organized looting scheme,\u201d according to a local who has been watching them across several days.<\/p>\n

Jarrod Jordan told The Post he has monitored two groups \u2014 one of which has a caravan of luxury vehicles including Bentleys and Mercedes \u2014 as they prowled the neighborhood and broke into high-end stores amid the chaos of unrest over the police custody death of George Floyd.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a real business. This isn\u2019t angry protesters in any way shape or form,\u201d said Jordan, who is a chief digital officer of a multinational food company.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is organized crime happening really, really well.\u201d<\/p>\n

He began to walk behind the looters Saturday night, staying up until 3:30 a.m. to figure out what they\u2019re doing and how the operation was organized.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I quickly realized is they\u2019re running this four-tier system,\u201d said Jordan, who witnessed looting of stores including Chanel, Prada and Ray Ban.<\/p>\n

People in cars \u2014 some of which have out-of-state plates \u2014 come to scout out the storefronts and take photos during the day. Then the same group of vehicles returns later in the evening with tools to break into stores, he said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, there are younger members \u2014 he estimates between the ages of 16 and 22 \u2014 who work to distract the police, while others driving on motorized Revel electric scooters act as scouts, he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey would relay information from where the distractors are [with the cops] over to the cars \u2014 who would then call over and reorganize other pods in other areas,\u201d Jordan said, referring to the groups of looters on the ground.<\/p>\n

The small packs of five to eight young men on the ground then come together, swelling to as large as 40 to attack the establishment, he said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, one person stands across the street directing the looters \u2014 as someone on a CitiBike travel<\/a>s back and forth to inform them how much time they have until cops arrive to the scene, Jordan said.<\/p>\n

During the break-in, the groups form an assembly line to pass their bounty into five to eight cars, he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen the looters looted, they filled up the cars and the cars drove so the looters have their hands free to go on to the next place,\u201d said Jordan.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce they know they\u2019ve moved the cops over, they\u2019ll come back.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said both of the groups appear to have \u201csome sort of mutual respect to a certain extent\u201d and are each running a \u201cclearly, very well-organized looting scheme.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut every now and then I\u2019ll see one of them clock the other and steal a bunch of product,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Jordan said he turned over some of his dramatic videos of the operations to NYPD \u2014 hoping they could help catch the roving gangs.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope the crime bosses are stopped so the looting stops,\u201d Jordan added. \u201cThe looters are just a bunch of young kids recruited to do the boss\u2019 work.\u201d<\/p>\n

He believes the police need to surveil the cars entering the neighborhood instead of focusing on the looters on the ground.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re playing whack-a-mole with them instead of setting up a perimeter of everyone who comes,\u201d he said. \u201cThe cars are the key.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
