Ken Langone \u2014 the billionaire Home Depot co-founder and Republican megadonor \u2014 said he feels \u201cbetrayed\u201d by President Trump after last week\u2019s siege on the Capitol.<\/p>\n

Langone blasted Trump\u2019s attempts to overturn the 2020 election results and pledged to help President-elect Joe Biden \u201cbe the best president we ever had.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel betrayed,\u201d Langone told CNBC<\/a> in a Wednesday interview. \u201c\u2026 Last Wednesday was a disgrace, it should never have happ<\/a>ened in this country, and if it doesn\u2019t break every American\u2019s heart, something\u2019s wrong. It breaks my heart for sure. I didn\u2019t sign up for that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Langone is a prolific donor to GOP candidates \u2014\u00a0he and his wife, Elaine, made nearly $517,000 in political contributions over the last two years, $496,500 of which went to Republicans, according to the Center for Responsive Politics<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 85-year-old financier has reportedly supported<\/a> some of Trump\u2019s economic policies, such as his tariffs on China, and made a $2,700 donation to the president\u2019s 2016 campaign, federal records show.<\/p>\n

But he suggested that the Capitol rioters were wrong to try to stop Biden from taking office by disrupting Congress\u2019 counting of electoral votes last week.<\/p>\n

\u201cGoing through the court system to try and get some results \u2014 he exhausted everything, it was over,\u201d Langone told CNBC.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel those people who sought to stop the process were ill-advised,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Asked whether Trump should be impeached \u2014 a step the House was moving toward Wednesday\u00a0\u2014 Langone responded bluntly: \u201cI don\u2019t care.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAll I care about is one thing: Jan. 20, Joe Biden\u2019s going to be sworn in as president and I\u2019m going to work my ass off any way I can because I win \u2014 if he\u2019s a great successful president, we all win,\u201d he said.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
