Angie Jakusz, best-known as a contestant on \u201cSurvivor,\u201d has died after a three-year battle with cancer. She was 40.<\/p>\n

She passed away Friday in the New Orleans area but the official cause of her death has not yet been announced, TMZ reported<\/a>. A graveside service was held on Wednesday afternoon in Metairie, Louisiana.<\/p>\n

A GoFundMe page recently launched in her name revealed that she had been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, a rare form of colorectal cancer. As of Thursday morning, the crowd-sourcing campaign had raised $255 of its $30,000 goal.<\/p>\n

Born Cassandra Anne Jakusz in Waukesha, Wisconsin, she later spent time in San Francisco and New York before moving permanently to New Orleans, according to her CBS bio<\/a>. She worked there as an artist \u2014 using watercolors and found objects \u2014 and bartended in the French Quarter.<\/p>\n

Despite her loads of colorful tattoos, Jakusz\u2019s fellow \u201cSurvivor\u201d castaways gave her the nickname \u201cNo Fun Angie\u201d when she app<\/a>eared on the 2005 season of the CBS reality TV trailblazer, which was set in Palau. She competed for the Ulong Tribe.<\/p>\n

Jakusz, who also co-starred in the raunchy 1998 indie movie \u201cLucinda\u2019s Spell,\u201d actually made a little reality TV history on \u201cSurvivor,\u201d The Sun reported<\/a>. She was voted out on day 12 \u2014 which made her the first contestant to lose during the revote phase in tribal council. <\/p>\n

Despite her young age \u2014 she was only 25 when she did the show \u2014 Jakusz quickly became a favorite of her tribe-mates and viewing audiences alike.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople have to remember back in 2005 \u2014 women weren\u2019t cast on \u2018Survivor\u2019 with dreads and tattoos,\u201d fellow \u201cPalau\u201d contestant\u00a0Coby Archa, 48,\u00a0told People<\/a>. \u201cShe broke the casting barrier. Fans related to her story so much. And a lot of people wanted to see her play again for her strength.\u201d<\/p>\n

She racked up solid performances in various team challenges, but ended up ranking in 13th place when she got the boot. Diehard fans later spotted her at the show\u2019s 10-year anniversary party that aired in 2010.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had heard from her family three years ago that she was battling cancer,\u201d Archa told the outlet. \u201cWe raised some money for her treatments. She wasn\u2019t into the fame, just the experience of\u00a0\u2018Survivor.\u2019 She came, she played, and she went back to her life in New Orleans. She liked her life that way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jakusz is survived by her husband\u00a0of nine years, Steven Calandra, and her parents, as well as brother, niece and nephew. <\/p>\n
