Mortensen also stars in the pic, which features great character actor\u00a0<strong>Lance Henriksen<\/strong> as the antagonistic father.\u00a0<em>Falling<\/em> played at both Sundance and at TIFF last year, where it was met with mixed reviews. Now it\u2019s headed to theaters and digital in February. Watch the trailer below.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Falling_Trailer\"><\/span><strong>Falling Trailer<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Falling | Official Trailer\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2OY1SQE2x5Q?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post --><em>Falling<\/em> focuses on \u201cJohn (Viggo Mortensen) who lives with his partner, Eric (<strong>Terry Chen<\/strong>), and their daughter, M\u00f3nica (<strong>Gabby Velis<\/strong>), in California, far from the traditional rural life he left behind years ago, while his conservative father, Willis (Lance Henriksen), lives alone on the isolated farm where John grew up. In the early stages of dementia, Willis is brought to John\u2019s California home to help him relocate. Unfortunately, their best intentions ultimately run up against Willis\u2019s adamant refusal to change his way of life in the slightest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This story has potential, and I like Mortensen as an actor and I like Henriksen even more \u2013 he\u2019s one of the best character actors of all time, and I\u2019ve longed for a filmmaker to give him a big role like this in the later-half of his career. That said, this trailer doesn\u2019t do much for me \u2013 it\u2019s rather predictable, and while Henriksen certainly seems to be giving his all, it might not be enough to elevate the material.<\/p>\n<p>It doesn\u2019t help that most reviews for\u00a0<em>Falling<\/em> have been a bit mixed. It\u2019s currently fresh on <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/falling_2020\">Rotten Tomatoes<\/a> with 73%, but in his TIFF review for \/Film, Jason Gorber called\u00a0<em>Falling<\/em> \u201ca total disaster,\u201d saying that it was \u201cfrustrating and flawed father\/son drama that demands rather than earns empathy from its deeply unlikeable central character and his near saintly son,\u201d and added:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>There\u2019s little in the way of either reconciliation or meaningful confrontation, making the entire journey feel haphazard and meandering\u2026Falling\u00a0fails hard, unable to generate sympathy for its protagonists and relying entirely on the charms of its writer\/director to sustain interest.
