This is great for ultra-wide monitors and anyone who wants a better tiling window manager.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_Customize_Windows_10s_Snap_Feature\"><\/span>How to Customize Windows 10\u2019s Snap Feature<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The built-in Snap Assist feature only works in a 2\u00d72 grid arrangement, which means that the windows will always be equally sized to fit the area: two windows side by side, four windows in the four corners of the screen, or one window on one side of the screen and two on the other.<\/p>\n<p>If you have a big monitor, especially an ultra-wide, you may want more window tiling options. That\u2019s where Microsoft\u2019s PowerToys app comes in. The \u201cFancyZones\u201d feature adds many more options as well as the ability to create completely custom snap zones.<\/p>\n<h3 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_Get_Microsoft_PowerToys\"><\/span>How to Get Microsoft PowerToys<br \/>\n<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>PowerToys can be downloaded from <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/microsoft\/PowerToys\/releases\/\">Microsoft\u2019s GitHub page<\/a>. The app is free and open-source. This is where you\u2019ll decide on how many zones you want as well as their sizes. There are two ways to do this. You can also drag the handle between zones to adjust their sizes. This represents the first zone in your layout. There\u2019s a lot you can do here, but we\u2019ll make a few recommendations to get you started.<\/p>\n<p>In the \u201cZone Behavior\u201d section, you\u2019ll probably want to enable the \u201cHold Shift key to activate zones while dragging\u201d setting, which makes it really easy to move windows between zones quickly.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-706102\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/2020-12-17_15-25-55.png\" alt=\"hold shift while dragging\" width=\"514\" height=\"215\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Next, scroll down to the \u201cWindow Behavior\u201d section. Simply type the name of the app in the text box, one per line.
