While a live-action sequel to Edgar Wright<\/strong>\u2018s\u00a0Scott Pilgrim vs. the World<\/em><\/strong> seems very unlikely at this point, there still might be more\u00a0Pilgrim<\/em> on the way. According to Wright, there are \u201csome plans\u201d to continue the story in animation form. Wright adds that there\u2019s nothing official yet, but confirms there have been discussions with comic creator\u00a0Bryan Lee O\u2019Malley<\/strong> about the idea.<\/p>\n

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World<\/em> is turning 10 years old this August, and while it remains a cult favorite these days, it was also a box office bomb when it opened in 2010. But the love for the film remains strong among fans, and many have longed for a sequel. Here\u2019s the bad news<\/a>: that\u2019s not going to happ<\/a>en. In a new oral history of the film over at EW, even star Michael Cera<\/strong> says: \u201cI don\u2019t think a sequel is a reality. In my limited understanding of the film industry, when a movie doesn\u2019t really explode at the box office, it\u2019s hard for anybody to get behind a sequel.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, there\u2019s good news to go along with this bad news. In the same EW piece, director Edgar Wright reveals tentative plans to keep the\u00a0Scott Pilgrim<\/em> story going in animation form:<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s some plans \u2014 and there\u2019s nothing official yet \u2014 but there are some plans to revisit the material in an animation way. We\u2019ve been talking with Bryan and with Jared for a while [about]: What if we did something with the books in anime<\/a> form? It\u2019s being discussed as we speak.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

And Chris Evans<\/strong>, who co-starred in the film, keeps the love going by adding: \u201cThe Marvel fan base is rabid, but the Scott Pilgrim fandom is just as dedicated and loyal as any fandom I\u2019ve ever seen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Again: Wright flat-out says \u201cthere\u2019s nothing official yet,\u201d but fans can at least take comfort knowing there\u2019s a distinct possibility this could happen. It\u2019s not entirely clear if this would end up being a TV series or a movie (or series of movies), but there\u2019s certainly enough material to work with. The\u00a0Scott Pilgrim<\/em> comic series ran from 2004 to 2010, and consisted of six digest-sized volumes.<\/p>\n
