D\u00e9j\u00e0 vu all over again: For the second time in just over two years, Speaker Nancy Pelosi has led the House to rush through impeaching President Trump, citing an urgent need to rid America of a dangerous threat in the White House \u2014 and then turned around and dawdled in delivering the charges to the Senate for trial.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The House on Wednesday passed an article of impeachment charging Trump with \u201cincitement of insurrection\u201d for his role in his supporters\u2019 Jan. 6 assault on the Capitol. But on Friday, Pelosi refused to say when she would send it to the Senate, forcing it to drop all other business until the trial is done. \u201cYou\u2019ll be the first to know when we announce that we\u2019re going over there,\u201d she haughtily told reporters.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Pelosi played the same games with Trump\u2019s first impeachment, which passed the House on Dec. 18, 2019, but wasn\u2019t submitted to the Senate until Jan. 16, 2020.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll send them over when I\u2019m ready,\u201d she huffed then, when even allies such as Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) were saying, \u201cI do think it is time to get on with it.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

She was holding out to pressure Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to make the trial rules more favorable to the Democrats. It didn\u2019t work \u2014 and only made her posturing look more pathetic. Now she\u2019s delaying to help the incoming President Biden.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Clearly, Pelosi doesn\u2019t see impeachment as a constitutional remedy to right serious wrongs but as a way to play political games.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
