“#New Radicals Reuniting After 22 Years to Perform at Biden Inauguration Event<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

New Radicals broke up in 1999\u2014just months after the release of their 1998 single \u201cYou Get What You Give.\u201d On Wednesday, January 20, the band will reunite for the first time in 22 years to perform their hit single as part of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris\u2019 virtual \u201cParade Across America\u201d inauguration event, Rolling Stone<\/em> reports<\/a>. New Radicals will close the parade that takes place after the swearing-in ceremony.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf there\u2019s one thing on Earth that would possibly make us get the band together, if only for a day, it is the hope that our song could be even the tiniest beacon of light in such a dark time,\u201d New Radicals frontman Gregg Alexander said in a statement.<\/p>\n

During the campaign, the song became the walk-on music of choice for Kamala Harris\u2019 husband Doug Emhoff. Joe Biden has talked about how the song became important to their family during his son Beau Biden\u2019s final days.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring breakfast, Beau would often make me listen to what I thought was his theme<\/a> song, \u2018You Get What You Give\u2019 by the New Radicals,\u201d Biden wrote in his memoir Promise Me, Dad<\/em>. \u201cPerforming the song again after such a long time is a huge honor because we all have deep respect for Beau\u2019s military service and such high hopes for the unity and normalcy Joe and Kamala will bring our country again in this time of crisis,\u201d Alexander added.<\/p>\n

The Inauguration Day celebrations will also feature performances from Bruce Springsteen, Foo Fighters, Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Demi Lovato, John Legend, and others.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou Get What You Give\u201d was named one of Pitchfork\u2019s \u201cTop 200 Tracks of the 1990s.\u201d<\/p>\n
