A 36-year-old man was fatally shot in lower Manhattan on Monday night, police said.<\/p>\n

The man was struck once in the abdomen at around 8:40 p.m. on the southeast corner of 3rd Street and Avenue C in the East Village, the NYPD said.<\/p>\n

He was taken to Beth Israel hospital and pronounced dead.<\/p>\n

Three men were seen fleeing the scene, cops said. An investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n

Several locals called 911 to report the shooting, including one person who said the victim had been on a bicycle when he was struck, law enforcement sources said.<\/p>\n

Neighbors reported hearing between 6 and 10 shots being fired, according to the sources.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
