Instead, it looks like the next step up this ladder is<span>\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.automobilemag.com\/news\/2022-2023-chevrolet-corvette-c8-hybrid-spy-photos-testing\/\">a Corvette ZR1 Hybrid<\/a>, which is rumored to hit the streets in time for the 2023 model year.<\/p>\n<p><em>[Read:\u00a0<span dir=\"auto\">How Netflix shapes mainstream culture, explained by data<\/span>]<\/em><\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re expecting to see more than 900 horsepower from this gas-electric hybrid once it finally rolls off the assembly line. <span style=\"background-color: rgba(46, 146, 255, 0.2);\">Spycams<\/span>\u00a0have caught footage of some form of Corvette on the test tracks, but it doesn\u2019t appear to be the ZR1 that we\u2019re so excited for\u2014primarily because the lack of drive axle nuts on the front wheels means it\u2019s not AWD like the ZR1 Hybrid is reported to be.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Rumors_of_electric_Corvettes\"><\/span><strong>Rumors of electric Corvettes<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>With a hybrid Corvette on the horizon, what does that mean for the potential for an electric C8 \u2018Vette? Right now, everything we\u2019re seeing is rumors. But in the automotive industry, that doesn\u2019t mean much. The C8 mid-engine Corvette<span>\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/roadshow\/news\/mid-engine-c8-corvette-hybrid-z06-zr1-leak\/\">was just a rumor<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>a couple of years ago, and now you can bring one home if the mood strikes.<\/p>\n<p>Right now, industry experts believe that an electric C8 is possible, but we\u2019ll probably have to take baby steps, meaning<span>\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.topflightautomotive.com\/blog\/future-electric-c8-corvette\/\">we\u2019ll probably see a hybrid<\/a>\u00a0before they make the transition to a fully electric vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t a bad thing.
