power in the House, Senate and White House,\u201d but they must divorce the \u201ctoxic\u201d President Trump to do it, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/opinion\/campaign\/534167-heres-how-republicans-win-in-2022-2024-while-divorcing-a-toxic-trump\">argues Joe Concha at The Hill<\/a>. \u201cIf you\u2019re the kind of fence-sitter voter who decides elections in swing states, when you think Trump, you think Capitol Hill riots.\u201d The \u201crampage\u201d is \u201cjust too ugly and unbelievable to erase.\u201d But \u201cwhile things look dark for the party now,\u201d remember that America is \u201ca center-right country, no matter how much many in traditional <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a> try to portray it otherwise.\u201d And the center and right \u201cwill have plenty to get fired up about without Trump leading the charge\u201d \u2014\u00a0\u00adnot least\u00a0\u201cabolishing ICE, reallocation of police funds, the continued \u00adexpansion of Chinese dominance [and] Big Tech censorship.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Conservative_Trump_2024_Isnt_Impossible\"><\/span>Conservative: Trump 2024 Isn\u2019t Impossible<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>After the Capitol siege, \u201ca pundit-class consensus says\u201d President Trump \u201ccannot possibly win again. But the pundit class is usually wrong,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/spectator.us\/topic\/nevertheless-persisted-trump-2024\/\">notes Daniel McCarthy at Spectator USA<\/a>. \u201cIf Trump wants the Republican nomination in 2024, who or what, exactly, will stop him?\u201d He remains \u201cthe leader of a powerful movement\u201d that still controls the party. Despite his \u201cconsiderable baggage,\u201d amid \u201ca global pandemic and the worst economy since the Great Depression,\u201d he \u201creceived more votes than any \u00adRepublican in history, including gains among blacks and Latinos.\u201d Democrats want \u201chim behind bars,\u201d but \u201cthat risks making\u201d him a martyr \u2014 and Eugene Debs showed you can \u201crun for president from a prison cell.\u201d GOP \u201cideological blocs that doubted Trump in 2016 have no doubts now\u201d after \u201cthe tax cuts and regulatory relief\u201d and \u201cAmy Coney Barrett on the Supreme Court,\u201d and he could sink the GOP \u201cby running as a third-party candidate.\u201d Remember: \u201cTrump is not a man who accepts oblivion.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Tech_beat_Silicon_Valley_Swallowed_Democracy\"><\/span>Tech beat: Silicon Valley Swallowed Democracy<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cThe actions of Twitter, Facebook and [other tech giants] represent more than the woke colonization of Big Tech,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.firstthings.com\/web-exclusives\/2021\/01\/the-political-power-of-big-tech\">warns First Things\u2019 R.R. Reno<\/a>. \u201cThey represent the tech giants\u2019 assumption of one of the essential functions of a liberal democratic political order: determining the proper balance between individual freedom and collective well-being\u201d \u2014 that is, a core job of government was privatized. It\u2019s part of a wider, long-term trend of growing\u00a0\u201cprivate power\u201d: \u201cTechnically, Twitter and Facebook break no laws when censoring content.\u2009.\u2009. . Our law treats these entities as private enterprises, free to associate and contract with whomever they wish.\u201d Yet \u201cin a real sense, they are legislating for the entire country, even though they are technically acting privately.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Hill_watch_Schumers_Senate_Wish_List\"><\/span>Hill watch: Schumer\u2019s Senate Wish List<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Chuck Schumer wrote a recent letter citing \u201cthis month\u2019s violence at the US Capitol\u201d and then proposing \u201ca lengthy Democratic policy wish list\u201d \u2014 an unabashed abuse of\u00a0\u201cthe rioters\u2019 criminal behavior,\u201d the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/opinion\/editorials\/schumers-left-wing-senate-wish-list-should-be-dead-on-arrival\">editors of the Washington examiner sigh<\/a>, to \u201cjustify stretching his tenuous Senate majority further than it could ever go otherwise.\u201d Among other steps, Schumer suggests abolishing state right-to-work laws, raising taxes on the middle class and dismantling \u201cthe nation\u2019s profitable, self-sustaining and world-leading fossil-fuel-production industry.\u201d But Schumer shouldn\u2019t be riling up the Democratic base \u201cwith hopes of such transformative measures,\u201d and \u201cthe new Republican Senate minority must hold firm.\u201d With the election\u2019s split results, voters clearly want some \u201cstability\u201d over the next few years, so \u201cto respect their will, the political opposition must do what it was elected to do: oppose such nonsense.
